Penn State University campus confusion

Does penn state have different start and end campus? Why? On common app, there are 20 campus options. Why are there so many? Is the tuition fee different for each and why? Also, I wanna major in chem engineering - if this is a factor - , which campus is advisable?

@B9ngzzz This link explains the whole start and end campus thing. Some like to do the whole degree at University Park, the main campus, and others like to do the prereqs at a smaller campus and finish at UP.

For engineering, the main campus (University Park/Happy Valley) is probably advisable.

If I want to choose one alternate campus for engineering, which is advisable? I was thinking Altoona because it’s the closest but I’m not sure if it’s the best choice for my major

Behrend (Erie) and Capital (Harrisburg) are the next best options (after UP) for engineering. You can check the websites of those campuses and see which one appeals to you more. I think Behrend has a higher percentage of residential students (students living on campus) but is in a colder, snowier location. Of course, it can be cold and snowy at University Park, too. And today, with the polar vortex, even in the Harrisburg area.
