Penn State University vs. University of Delaware

Hi, so I’ve narrowed my college search down to psu and UDel, however I can not seem to make a decision between the two. I wanted to see if anyone had any insight on which would be the better choice. I’m OOS and undeclared for both by the way.

When I visited UDel, I could easily picture myself going there. I love the close proximity to so many major cities and its convenient location. The campus is beautiful, and I love the little downtown area. There seems to be many ways to get involved and there are always things to do. It is closer to my house than Penn State is which is something I am taking into consideration. I received a scholarship, but the price still isn’t much lower than penn state for it to make a significant difference.

I also fell in love with PSU when I visited. The campus is also beautiful and very well maintained. Although both school have outstanding academic rankings, PSU topped Delaware by a considerable amount (76 vs 48 I believe). Also,it has dus, which is an incredible program which provides guidance to students who have not yet decided on a major. It also has a very high employment rate after college and a huge alumni network. However, I feel more comfortable with the smaller size of Delaware (17k vs 40k undergrads) as 40k is a huge number and I’m not sure how I’d fit in. Also, the isolated location of State College scares me a bit.

Any opinions?

Just reading your post, sounds like you have already made a decision, you just don’t know it…it looks like UDel to me.

It sounds like you’d be happier at UDel so go there (remember you’ll be spending 4 years there). The difference in rankings is not enough to matter.

I think you’d be happier at UDel.

I’m a current student at UD and even as a freshman I have a lot of small classes under 20 students. But, there are still many classes that are large lectures at the freshman level that can have up to 200 students in them.

I agree, from your post it certainly sounds like UDelaware is the better fit for you. Send in your money, buy your hoodie, and never look back.
