Hello,

I'm an international student and got acceptance from both schools.I will study industrial engineering so which school is a better option for me and why?

Thank You

It is hard to say what is better for you since we don’t know you! You may need to ask more specific questions.

First you do know that at Northeastern, co-op is required? So it is different from Penn State that way. Northeastern is in a big city, that is another difference.

Regarding co-ops, check how the work visas would be handled.

i want to live in a big city, because i’m currently living in one and it may be hard to adapt to such a isolated town. But if the education of penn state is way better than (psu ranked way better than NU if that make sense.) NU than i force myself to choose penn state.

Penn State is in a smaller city, but there is plenty to do. Email the International student offices at both places and ask for the contact information for a student from your country so that you can get more personalized advice.

What do you plan to do after you graduate? Is one of the two more well-known back in your homeland?
Penn State has a much bigger sports scene and greater participation in Greek life than NEU. The schools really are very different.

I will take mba degree after i graduate.I think they are know as the same here.I don’t care about PSU’s football team or their big party scene.I just want to know which one is better academically and which one has better professors and facilities in this field.

Penn State is in the top 10 for I.E. according to US News rankings, if you believe in their ranking system.

I’m asking, should i believe in their ranking system? Do employers or grad schools in the usa care about the ranking system?

No. They have their own systems.

You need to be able to get a job in your home country (or at least somewhere that is not the US) after you graduate. Do employers there care?

It is OK to ask the career centers at each campus about their job placement rates for international graduates in IE. Ask about placement for the year of OPT, and about permanent job placement following that year.

If you want to live in a big city, Northeastern is the best option for you. Penn State is far from any major cities. You can check out its location using Google maps. Academically, I would venture to say Northeastern is better as well. Northeastern tends to cater better to international students.
