I got accepted into the business school for both.
I live in NJ, so my parents want me to go to Rutgers cause it's cheaper obviously.
What do you guys think?
Is Penn State's business school just a little bit or a lot better?

a lot imo…

a lot imo as well…

A lot…

10 char

GO Rutgers!

My bro went to Penn State & said it was hard to find internships.
And my parents said it would be easier if I went to Rutgers cause it’s closer to the city.
Is that true?

Definitely not true in my opinion. PSU has tons of connections to industry, escpailly Smeal. If your bro had issues finding internships, it was most likley due to his credentials/effort searching for them. PSU has the resources (intern fairs, workshops, contacts) it just requires the initiative to seek them out and attend.

retrooo,

As a Polisci major at Penn State, I was able to take part in the PSU Washington DC program where I was connected with an internship on Capitol Hill for a Member of Congress. I know other Penn Staters who have interned/ had a co op at several Fortune 500 companies as well. Also, Penn State has one of the largest and most well connected alumni networks in the country. If anything, I think you would have better and more well rounded opportunities at PSU than you may at Rutgers.

PSU has MASSIVE networking due to the size of the school and how insanely passionate the alumni are.

So, it IS quite easy to find internships?
Cause my bro’s pretty smart & he majored in business, but he said it was still hard for some reason.

And which school is more worth it in the end?
Cause people say yes, even though PSU is ranked higher, there’s still not that much of a difference, the education is still pretty much the same…

To be honest, it is very common for people that go to lesser ranked schools to rationalize their decision with saying, “the education was pretty much the same”, when comparing themselves to schools that were ranked well. It’s obviously not the same. That is not saying that Rutgers is not a good school. Rutgers seems to be up and coming, but Penn State UP’s Smeal is still much stronger.

More worth it in the end? School is pretty much what you want to get out of it. If you are willing to push yourself, there are tons of opportunities. If you are willing to push yourself, I think Penn State UP, with it’s great business school and imo second to none alumni connections, can make it possible for you to reach your goals.

I would make sure to remember that your brother is only one person and that it is very difficult to get an accurate idea of the internship opportunities of a school with 40,000 people based on one person.

To tell the truth I would say it’s up to you. You can get a good internship/job anywhere it depends on the person really. Penn State will give you better connections and maybe a better education, however if you think you can stand above the rest at Rutgers…I would say go for the cheaper school. If you think that Penn State is where you want to be, then come here. Also, don’t forget whichever school you go to, you have to live there…so make sure where ever you are you aren’t miserable ;).

both schools are great schools. there is obvi some bias here. haha
rutgers and psu are really really similar when you think about it. football, large, parties, education, and respect comes from both degrees.

In a January article, Wall Street Journal ranked Rutgers as #6 in the nation for getting your money back. PSU was ranked #17. Here’s the article:

I’ve got to say that it really is what you make of it, though. Everyone’s experiences are going to be different. Hope the article helps you!
