Which is considered the harder school to get into ? How are they ranked academically ?

They are all very similar in terms of prestige and that elusive “hard to get into” factor. Very similar in fact I believe 'Cuse and GWU were within one or two rankings of each other recently. All those juicy admittance stats should be available from each school. Or US News and World Report. Or Google.

But they aren’t all the same. Cuse and Penn State are pretty similar. Huge, diverse schools that are big into sports in cold, northeastern towns that they dominate. They both attract (stereotypically) B+/A- upper-middle/upper class suburban kids from the I-95 corridor who didn’t want to go to LAC’s and couldn’t get into ivys. They both have great and expansive alumni networks especially in DC, Philly, NYC, and Boston. Any company or organization will probably have someone who is an alumnus of one of those schools.

GWU is a bit different. Sports are almost non-existent and its campus really isn’t there. Situated in a heavily urban area ala-NYC, GWU’s strength lies in its political science/IR departments. While it’s other concentrations are fine, it’s unique location close to internship and career opportunities cannot be matched by 'Cuse or Penn State for those fields.

I just had to comment because those are the 3 schools I applied to (and got accepted to) waaaaay back in 78 (yeah, I’m an old parent lol). I know any perspective I have is totally outdated, but I think those are 3 great choices. :)
