Hi everyone! I am a rising senior and am trying to figure out if I should apply to Penn state or umd. I only want to apply to one big school so I am trying to narrow it down. I know the schools are very similar, especially in size. I plan to major in business, I’m not sure if one school is better than the other for business majors. My state school is uconn but I am not applying there because I would have to wait until the end of my sophomore year to apply to the business school. I would rather apply to schools where I would be directly admitted to my major my freshman year. Please let me know if you have any personal experience with Penn state or umd. Thank you!!!
I’m not too sure, but I think PSU may have the same or similar business policy as UConn. I would suggest looking at the websites for more info and do a virtual tour and a possible drive around the towns.
Run the $$ issue by your parents. Are either of these OOS institutions affordable for you?
What is the rest of your list? I’m not sure why you wouldn’t apply to both.
Yes, both of these schools are affordable for me.
I am mainly applying to small and medium sized schools. I only want to apply to one big school and since umd and psu are so similar I figured I should only apply to one of them. I’m trying to figure out which school has a better business program but I haven’t found an answer yet.
I feel as though you should apply to both just to keep your options open and actually compare the schools later on.
I would apply to both
UMD offers Freshman direct admission to the Smith School of Business, but it is a Limited Enrollment Program and very competitive.
