Penn State

I applied to main campus early September. I have about a 4.1 weighted GPA. Freshman year I had 100.82; sophmore, 101.2; and junior, 100.9. I'm fifth in my class I've always taken the highest courses. All together I've taken 16 honors and ap classes combined in my four years. I'm also very active in my school. Starting a mini-thon, a smaller version of penn states Thon, at my school. The only problem is I did awful on my sat. First time I took them I got a 1420. Then I took the acts and got a 26(on every part except science and my composite score). I haven't taken a new test since, but Im dying to know. Will I make it in?
This is really important to me it's my top school

Oh and I’m in national honor society!

If you applied in early September, then you should be hearing very soon. Was your application complete then (all scores, recs, transcripts)? Because people in my hs who applied in Sept heard end of last week and beginning of this week. You have a good GPA and if the rigor of your classes is strong, they may compensate for your scores. Did you consider taking SAT subject tests (not sure PSU uses them, but it might help if you have to consider other schools)? Since they are only 1 hour long, people with test anxiety tend to do well on these. Anyway, you have many accomplishments and so good luck!

1420/2400? If so, there is no way youre getting in…

Thank you :slight_smile: Im hoping so. I mean I’ve taken The highest courses available to me. I should have taken the sats again I think it was a bad day because I did noticeably better on my psats. I just have horrible anxiety with test taking

Well yeah but my ACTs fit right in with there there scores, they averaged a 25-29 I believe! And I got a 26. It’s only 1/3rd of the weighting.

@TrynaMakeIt‌

I think penn state requires that you send in all of your scores.

@TrynaMakeIt‌ I don’t mean to be annoying, I’m just curious. I sent in both scores already. they don’t require you to have both sat and act scores so why would the penalize me on my worst of the two. Does that make sense?

They’ll use the ACT score, since it’s higher by quite a lot (1760)
According to the bubble chart you’re not even on the fence for University Park due to your high GPA (2/3 of the decision) and your course rigor.
Don"t forget to update the thread to let us know!

Hey, I know you posted this last year lol, but I applied for university park for fall or summer 2016 and I’m anxious to hear a decision. I’ve been comparing my stats to others, trying to weigh if I’ll get in. Ours are somewhat similar. So did you happen to get accepted?

I would see if its possible for you to not send in that 1420. The 26 is low, but a 1420 could really kill your chances.
