I sent my application in on 11/24/09 and I was wondering how long it would take before I got my answer? They have rolling decision and with no specific date about when they will report there decision. And just for reference how long does it take a college to report there decision?

Hi,
I would plan on a bit of a wait. My D sent her app in well before Nov.1 and hasn’t heard yet. It seems that the applicants with the very high stats are the first to hear. If you fall into this category you may hear soon but if you are more middle of the road it might be a while. Good luck!

if you go to penn state use this website, so helpful for everything you need to use

i applied sept 22 and still nothing -.-

You should hopefully get something soon because it been over two months.

i am really hoping so bc my friend pretty much applied about a week ago and he just got his acceptance today which made me go “!@#$%^&*” :D

D applied at the end of Sept and hasn’t heard yet either.

Just wondering if anyone has been rejected yet, or if they are holding off the rejections until Jan…

I am getting nervous too…some of my friends have been accepted after only applying 3 weeks earlier while i applied late september and have not heard. I have taken into account these friends have higher stats and are obvious acceptances while i would say im borderline with a 1230/1600 and a 93 gpa. Is this 2 month wait a sign of rejection? i did check off summer but i know if you are good enough for fall they will accept you for that which i really hope. Do you think their just holding off the borderline applicants and will make decisions soon or does it look like a rejection haha

No, I don’t think it means that you are rejected. I have seen some acceptances that have similar stats to my D but she hasn’t heard yet. Hang in there. I know, my D is getting impatient, too!

I still haven’t figured out how their process.

DS submitted his application on Sept 17. His transcripts and SAT scores had been sent in July. But due to a mistake on Penn State’s part, his transcripts were not marked as “received” in the computer system until early Nov (after I called them and made them check). At that time, the lady in the admissions office said she was forwarding my son’s file to the adcom committee immediately.

I was hoping that since the 6-7 week delay was PSU’s fault (not my son’s) that they would give it some sort of priority. But we still haven’t heard anything.

i wonder if my application is just lying there or if they’re having heated debates about it each day i don’t hear back from them haha i just sent in my portfolio today but they told me their decision wasn’t based on if i had sent it in yet or not

Loba92 - I would think that if any part of your admissions decision is based on a portfolio review, you will not hear for some time. Don’t be discouraged, all the other acceptances that have been posted have been for fairly straight-forward transcript review decisions only.

“The portfolio review is mandatory for admission to the Penn State School of Visual Arts (SoVA). The portfolio review is a separate process from the full Penn State-University Park admissions review and application. Admission to SoVA is contingent upon admission to Penn State. It is possible, however, to be admitted to Penn State but not to SoVA. In that case, the incoming student would be given Penn State’s general education, undeclared major designation.”

That’s the only thing I can think of that would be delaying my son’s decision. He has transcripts from both the school in TX and an overseas school. Even tho the TX school did a full evaluation of the overseas courses (and that’s noted on the transcript), they might be having someone with overseas experience looking at it.

Who knows???

I applied September 15, stillll nothing. I’m beyond nervous, PSU is my #1.

Like EPTR said, your time of acceptance is based upon your application strength. PSU works very hard to fill any place that they might be able to find for you, at your first campus choice. If you are in the middle of the road category, they may wait and see where you fall in the grand scheme of things or accept a stronger applicant before you. Hang in there, if you applied by the priority date you will here by 1/15, or so I’ve heard.
