I was accepted to Penn State, but I don't know if I'll go. I'm going to some q and a session in a couple weeks, but I've almost completely ruled out Penn State for Purdue and Wisconsin, where I've also been accepted. Any thoughts as to why I shouldn't rule it out yet? I'm in engineering, but if anybody knows something about Penn State or really excited about Penn State, please let me know!

Hmm well what state are you from?
Where do you want to work after school

Id just say that Penn State is a great place with a great alumni network.
Penn State also has a huge amount of pride among its students (heck among the whole state...you shoulda seen how many people were routing for PSU during the Orange Bowl :P)
Obviously all three of the schools liste have great pograms.
Id just say try and visit all of them (and I realize this may not be possible) and see which you like the most.

Also could you clue me in on why Wisconsin and Purdue above PSU?

I from MA now, but I used to live in Western PA, so I know some people going there. I'm planning on going into Aerospace Engineering, but if not, some other engineering. Purdue's been ranked #4 in AE, so that caught my eye. Wisconsin also has a very good engineering program. Also, Wisconsin seems like it is very, very fun. When I visited Penn State, I didn't get much of a wide view. I was at the Engineering open house, and walked through town, but I didn't see too much.

oh well Id say PSU is fun and their engineering is a good (I think their ranked 16 in overall)
Their ranked 15 in aerospace so I dont know how much that diff makes. All the schools are great ones though Id personally go for Wisconsin or Penn State as the schools seem to be a little better overall (in case you would ever want to switch majors or dual major)

Current and past students I know from Penn State UP think that it is VERY FUN with lots of activities, groups and parties.

DONT go to Penn State. Purdue is more well known and is a better school. Wisconsin is head and shoulders above Penn state. All three schools have the same general football party oriented atmosphere.

Penn State is much less expensive than Purdue, a more esteemed school, and is well known for engineering. Newcool how do you figure Purdue is a better school? Many people I know got into Purdue that couldn't make it into PSU. Purdue has an 80% acceptance rate with an average high school gpa of 3.4, while PSU has a 58% acceptance rate with an average high school gpa of 3.56.

Penn State is way more well known than Purdue...

i was thinking purdue but i decided it was too expensive for me and i didn't really think i wanted to be a boilermaker. I applied to all state schools, Wisconsin, Michigan, UNC, Maryland, Penn State, and Texas. I have been given answers from UNC(DENIED :(), Penn State(ACCEPTED; Sapphire program and Business program :)), Wisconsin(Postponed :() and maryland(ACCEPTED!!!; Scholars Program and Business Program!!!! :) :) :))
Basically I am not being biased. I really didn't think Purdue was worth it and therefore i said screw it. Go to Wisconsin I would say. I applied late(last day... well actually the day after) and was postponed.

All this deciding is still just a pre-caution. I still need to hear from my top 4 schools. I applied to 7 schools- Purdue(accepted), Penn State(accepted), Wisconsin(accepted), Michigan(deferred, hoping I'll hear this week), Notre Dame(will hear 1st week April), Army(1 nomination), and Navy(2 Nominations). If I get in to any of the 4 I haven't heard from, forget Purdue, Penn State, and Wisconsin. I'm just trying to find which of those 3 I'd go to, in case I don't get in anywhere else.
