Penn Supplement Essay

“The Admissions Committee would like to learn why you are a good fit for your undergraduate school choice (College of Arts and Sciences, School of Nursing, The Wharton School, or Penn Engineering). Please tell us about specific academic, service, and/or research opportunities at the University of Pennsylvania that resonate with your background, interests, and goals."

What exactly is Penn asking me to write? Can someone explicate what the question is basically asking? Should I just do some research about the school and write about how it will allow me to further my academics? I'm confused.

Well, they ask you to write about

So yes, some knowledge about the school is needed. Therefore, you should research about the school and write about how it will allow you to further your academics. I hope that this didn’t come off as snarky as that is not my intention. I don’t think that Penn is trying to throw their applicants a curveball.

No no it didn’t come off as snarky. And thanks for your explanation it helped me understand the question better.

Basically asking “Why Penn?”

^ Meaning, why Penn for YOU, and why you for PENN. In other words, how do your background, interests, achievements, and goals mesh with what Penn has to offer in terms of academics, research, community service, ECs, etc., and how would you’re being there for four years enhance both you AND PENN (and the specific school within Penn to which you’re applying).

^ YOUR (not you’re) being there. Too late to edit that post.
