Are you talking about me Reaching4thestars? Gosh, I really couldn't tell you. I'm not really doing the machine gun theory thing I did last year but I'm not 100% counting on getting into both schools since they're really competitive. I'll take whatever I can get =)

ya i was. there are like no other transfer threads on the G-town board...
well i think G-town or penn, either one would be sweet

p.s. lol, what's machine gun theory?

It's what my friend did. 22 schools, 132 envelopes.

lol yeah, it's like when you apply to like 40,000 schools and hope to hit at least one.

hahah great theory.
22 schools is quite a lot though. i can't even name that many off the top of my head.

yah, jesus christ! 22 x 2 essays = 44 essays + 100 short essay questions!!!!

he told me that he wouldnt leave his room for 3 days at a time and that the floor was covered with paper.

some schools have more essays:
for cornell I wrote 4 full-sezed and 2 short I think...
for Yale 3 long ones...

there has definitely been a lot of essay writing lately. 20+

it's funny but i can actually tell that my writing as a result has gotten much better...

I agree. I'm a big procrastinator (as you can see) and I applied to around 12 schools last year. Although a lot of them used Common App., places like Duke and Northwestern required additional unique essays and it was a pain just writing them. I actually paid the fees for schools like Michigan and ended up not even turning the app in because I couldn't finish the essays in time.

The only reason I didn't wanna use the common app is how it's just that. Common. Despite school's saying "We give equal considerationm," I'd think the human factor would say he's just applying to a lot of schools. Does he even wanna come here?

goodness, you paid all that money and didn't send an app?! whoa thats intense.... or maybe the exact opposite, i dunno

btw, WOOT!

I have approximately 60% of my appz done now! (although that's kinda cheating since UCLA/UCB are like the same).

only NYU and UoC left (dreading the UoC essay)

Does anyone know if we can expect some type of notification of receipt of our applications? And is there a decisions website like there is for undergraduate admission?

Hey! I remember this amazing feeling of finishing an application. It's nice...I sent it at like 3:45 last night, hopefully they won't care too much. I guess this was a good experience though because now I sure as hell won't procrastinate so much for my other schools (but I doubt it). Since I never really thought I would get in to UPenn I didn't work too hard...silly me. It's supposed to be the other way around usually. Oh well.

25% done - UChicago, NYU, and Northwestern to go

Haha yeah. I paid my transcript ($10), SAT score ($9) and ACT ($7 or something) and ended up not applying to Michigan. I sort of regret it, but I couldn't sneak in any time to finish the essays. Now, I only have Northwestern to go and Part I was submitted already. I only have like 2 essays to finish the application, which will probably take me until April 30th. hah

yeah, I ended up not applying to UPenn aftere I sent a bunch of stuff. In the last 3 days I have been sending a new application every day. It's insane. So I just couldn't get to it. It was one of my "safetier" schools, but oh well. Now my schools are all accepting like 5% :/

post1001, you will first get the blue post card saying they have received your application. it also says you are responsible for sending any test scores, etc. a couple weeks later you will get a letter saying they have received your application and they provide you with a userID and passcode to check your decision status. for transfer students, we will get an email telling us to check the site when a decision has been made after may 1st.

martini, u prob will get into Cornell, ru def leaving Wisconsin if u get in anywhree?

i agree

But last year I only used the common app.. i wanted to apply to schools like columbia, berkeley stanford but i didnt because I couldn't be bothered filling out the application... lazy me

Quick q: Do we have to call and ask if they have all of our materials or is there a part in the online application that shows that? I didn't see any thing...
