Hi everyone
I’m a freshman at NYU Stern with a 3.85 gpa
applying to Penn arts and science
I took a summer class at penn micro econ 101 and got an A-
and psych 101 at queens college and got an A+
bad high school gpa
720 math sat, 620 reading and 500 writing
and English is my second language
i have an internship and good essays
can anyone please tell me my chances to get into my dream school Penn and what the average gpa from nyu that get accepted to penn thanks so much

I think you’ll be fine to transfer to penn’s CAS b/c you are coming from Stern. Keep your grades up and have good recs and essay.

If you don’t mind me asking:
How did you get into Stern if you had a bad gpa? You must’ve done well in school in order to be accepted.
Also, why are you going from a business school to a regular CAS school? Why are you trying to transfer out of Stern? I am appying to Stern as a transfer and would like to know.

Thanks.

so when I applied to stern it was with only 1st semester of 12th grade which was still dissent, my 2nd semester killed me and I graduated with an 88.17 the sat 720 on math was really good my recommendations were really good and so were my essays and I had an extraordinary amount of extracurriculars with a strong business background, im sure the A- from micro econ at penn helped
where are you transferring from and whats your application like? Gpa, extracurriculars, ext

720 on math section is very good?.. if you apply on your second year with a GPA as good as this one, you may have a chance…

Didn’t mean to hijack another’s thread. But, is it feasible to transfer from NYU CAS to Penn CAS after my sophomore year(for Fall 2012)? International student as well, pretty bad first-semester GPA, but I am going to pull it up to 3.8+. 2050 SAT, 4.95 out 5 HS GPA. I am also going to talk to my Stats professor about the letter of recommendation. How many letters do I need overall? What about EC’s, leadership and stuff?
