Penn v WashU International Relations

Any help/information/guidance?

Specifically foreign language courses too.

Penn by a long-shot.

Penn is considered to have a very good International Relations program. Here are the
Gourman undergraduate rankings of IR programs:

Tufts
Princeton
Johns Hopkins
Georgetown
U Penn
Harvard
Cornell
U Wisconsin Madison
MIT
Stanford
UVA
Notre Dame
US Air Force Acad
US Military Acad
Claremont McKenna

I don’t know anything about Wash U’s program–sorry

Penn IR is awesome and places its students very well into grad schools, government, business world, etc…you can do a search of my posts for variations of a long yay-Penn-IR spiel that I give. And you can also ask me any questions you may have over PM :)

Someone posted a lengthy description of the International Studies department at Wash U on the Wash U board… You should look at that post for a comprehensive description of their department.

In undergrad, the vast majority of your classes won’t even be in your department, so you really have to look at other criteria:
-Size of campus
-Location, nearby area, things to do within walking distance, etc
-“Feel”
-Dorms, food, other amenities

Graduate school is where you really need to focus on a specific field. As long as you are looking at Top 20 Universities and each of your choices has an undergrad department in the field you want, you’re not going to notice a discernible variance in quality between them.
