k so maybe its a little early for this but im really curious on what you guys think, because i find the two VERY similar (both in cities, great reputation, academics, etc). it seems like a lot of ppl i know (including myself) have these as their top two choices and are extremel torn!

Besides the obvious that penn is an ivy, how do these two compare?? (social life, ppl, etc) would you choose one over the other? any infoo would be greatt :)

im thinking i eventually want to go into business... but i applied to the college of arts and sciences at penn cuz i have a really broad range of interests!! im thinking economics/international relations. georgetown has the whole international prestige, but penn is penn.

Penn has great international prestige as well. As far as business goes, Penn is going to be a better fit whether you are in Wharton or the College of Arts & Sciences. Academically, Penn is stronger than Georgetown as well. The exception would be International Relations at the School of Foreign Service, but the Penn major is very competitive and is very well received from what I understand. It doesn't have the name that Walsh does, but it is a stellar program. Socially, the schools will probably be similar. Penn has a big frat scene. Georgetown has Big East basketball, Penn the Big Five. There are similarities, but as an academic institution Penn is stronger than Georgetown.

I was very interested in Georgetown SFS, but ultimately went for Penn CAS. I felt it offered a broader range of academic strengths (and, as always with me, I was right ;))

this would be a very hard choicee! i stayed overnight with a friend at georgetown and i loved it (seemed very well roundedd with academics, sports, fun, surroundings etc). i havent visited yet at penn so i dont have anything to compare.

im probably generalizing, but i get the impression that its penn is kind of preprofessional and uptight. but then again, im not a student there so i dont know lol. do they offer over nights for prospective students?

I know a large number of transfers from Georgetown. Obviously, they liked Penn more.

In terms of academics, prestige, and selectivity Penn wins hands down. Location and social vibe are more of a personal concern, but you really can't argue with the other points.
