Penn vs. Georgetown

While I enjoyed my Penn visit, it seemed a little too gloomy. However, when I visit Georgetown I was absolutely blown away by their campus and surroundings. Everything seemed so vibrant there and I absolutely loved it.

However, it seems like Penn has a strong lead on Georgetown academically, making it hard for me to turn down. Do you guys think the gap between the two (if it exists at all since I always thought the two were similar) is enough for Penn to be "unrejectable?"

PS- I plan to go into business/finance and may explore law if I can handle it with a possible minor in something international (unfortunately I doubt I can make it into Wharton)

Even if you are not in Wharton, Penn definitely has an academic edge, especially if you are interested in business/finance (you can take as many courses in Wharton as you wish - also, future employers will see that you took Wharton classes). If you liked Georgetown better than you should definitely take that into consideration (fit is VERY important, especially since the academic difference is “visible” but not extremely siginificant, although for business it might be), but I have actually never hear anyone describe Penn as gloomy - maybe you were there on a bad day?? Good luck on your decision, and congratulations!

gloomy? Are you seriously making a quarter-million dollar decision on gloominess? Lets put it this way: if you want to go into politics / public sector, go Gtown. Else go to Penn

“Do you guys think the gap between the two (if it exists at all since I always thought the two were similar) is enough for Penn to be “unrejectable?””

The gap between the two isnt that huge. In fact, I think Georgetown is more well known at the west coast cos of the more distinct name. But if you graduate from either one, you’ll still be able to find good jobs. I say, go with your gut feeling. Dont go to UPenn because it’s slightly better than Georgetown.

my dad went to Penn and my uncle Georgetown. Both loved their time their colleges, and i think that you might have caught Penn on a bad day, as its supposed to posses an amazing atmosphere. My uncle absolutely loved Georgetown and DC but still wishes he had gone to a school with slightly more prestige (he got waitlisted at Penn) because even though its only slightly, Penn still carries that name when it comes to business/finance even if its not wharton specifically but only classes at wharton (they both entered the business industry btw,). i think that you will have an awesome time in either of them but you might find that Penn will benefit you slightly more in the long run

Both Penn and Georetown are great school.
Both school have similar academic reputation, similar selectivity, similar prestige.

Bill Clinton ( two term president) is a Georgetown graduate however none of Penn graduate became US presidnet.

^^■■■■■, dont listen to this resentful guy that got rejected at penn, so sorry, go sulk in your corner now…

Also, your information is false. William Henry Harrison, the 9th President of the U.S., attended Penn (not that that particular stastic has any meaning). I’m assuming you made your decision by now - where did you decide to attend?? (I finally made the very difficult decision to choose Penn over Brown and Columbia)

He attended Penn for few months and left. He is not a graduate of Penn.

Ah. So you’re saying OP should go to Georgetown to learn how to lie under oath?

Yes, because that’s all Clinton EVER did.

Georgerown is the second most represented univeristy in Obama’s administration.

Penn is not even on the top 12 list.

^and that is relevant… why??? Are you trying to prove a point, because I am clearly missing it

I think his point is that people who wants to learn how to lie should go to Georgetown (which I strongly disagree with, but whatever).

why is it relevant where the paper-pushers attended? I’d be much more interested in backgrounds of people who are successful, not those who get a government job.

Don’t take advice from people who can’t spell president (“presidnet”?) and have the worst grammar of any human being on this planet (“Both Penn and Georgetown are great school”). Gugupo is obviously bitter against Penn for some reason. Research the departments for the major you want at both schools. Look at research opportunities, internships, etc. Decide which school is the best fit for you based on academics and campus life, not the advice of jealous creatures who were denied from Penn (e.g. Gugupo).

Georgetown & Penn have similar admit rate, GPA, SAT, ACT scores.

Dont listen to this I D I O T look at all his other posts so that you can laugh at all his non-sense, he is full of ****, but the worst part is that he believes all the crap he sais.

Gugupo-
What was the purpose of your post? Both are great schools and the OP should research into which would be great fits for him/her. All of your posts are irrelevant and useless.

there is no purpose, he is just a loser with no life whatsoever.
