I'm new to this so... If this is the wrong forum, sorry in advance. I have a good but difficult decision to make soon, and I would like to hear other peoples input on it.

I have just been accepted into upenn's nursing and healthcare management dual degree program and georgetown's NHS my emphasis in healthcare management and policy.

If I went to gtown, id probably study policy and apply to the law school for graduate degree

If I went to Upenn, I would most likely be studying for five years to become a healthcare consultant or banking investment.

Please give any input on the school strength, social life, type of people, and anything else you would like to chime in on

UPenn definitely has a stronger nursing program than georgetown, but it ultimately is up to where you see yourself career-wise in the future. If you’re interested more in policy/law then georgetown is the better choice. While Upenn def has an upper hand with banking, georgetown is not bad with investment banking either.
i feel like students at georgetown are very happy, but the people i know at upenn enjoy it immensely too. while both are very academically rigorous schools, i believe that the atmosphere at penn is more cutthroat (2 suicides over winter break this year). one thing my georgetown interviewer emphasized to me was that georgetown was academically demanding but everyone is very relaxed and the atmosphere is more relaxed than ivy leagues (he had just went through the college process with his child who attends georgetown now) also although its not a super big factor, i would compare the locations of the two. dc vs philly, which one do you like better? also georgetown has a really cute, nice downtown area (very expensive tho) and philly has its counterpart with rittenhouse square which isn’t too far away. ALSO, if youre into sports i believe georgetown students are more into that than students at penn. penn also has a decent greek life presence while georgetown doesn’t have the frat scene. georgetown is also really preppy, but as an elite institution, you’ll definitely find preppy people at penn too.
both are really great schools and you can’t go wrong. definitely visit both and see which one you enjoy more!

I don’t know what Penn does but it’s important to note that recently Georgetown decided to add the average grades of classes onto transcripts which will probably make it a lot more competitive.

Go to the school where you feel most comfortable. My daughter did not apply to Penn because she did not want to study in Philadelphia. The hilltop setting of Georgetown and it’s quaint, setting made her feel more comfortable applying as we are from a small town near San Francisco (she attends Georgetown now). They are both excellent schools and you cannot make a bad choice. I remember how great the college tour was at Penn with an amazing speaker - I’m sure it is a wonderful place to learn. Good luck with your choice.

1st of all, you should not have gotten into both of the programs because penn is EARLY DECISON, and you can only apply to georgetown if you didnt apply somewhere with EARLY DECISON for early action.

Anyhoo, Georgetown is a lot better for internships, so if you want to study law and policy, georgetown is probably the place to do so.

Smartypants8, I received a likely letter in late February from Penn.

Unless you go to Wharton ( Upenn), Georgetown is overall a stronger school, and is more respected internationally.

Regarding school strength, I agree with those who say you can’t make a bad choice here. Both are awesome schools. Is money a factor at all? If so, I would take that into consideration (if there is a significant difference is aid offered.) Otherwise, where do you want to be? DC or Philly? Have you visited? If not, that might give you more clarity. Congrats and best of luck with your decision!

I once had to compare these very two schools and I would say that Penn is comfortably stronger across the board, with an exception for in Georgetown’s strongest areas. In your case it seems to be a fairly even match, however. I would have gone for Penn considering its overall superior strength, unless you have a rather strong inclination towards DC.
