Penn vs GW

My daughter is planning to major in Political Science.
Which school is better, Penn or GW?

What’s GW stand for?

George Washington University, Washington DC

to FFather,

that gives you your answer

Is this a joke? The two shouldn’t really be compared.

Penn hands down.

If finances aren’t an issue, Penn is the clear choice, unless there is a compelling reason to be in the D.C. area.

lol are u really asking??? yea…Penn hands down - ditto to wat broetchen said also

Penn by a landslide… if it gives you a better idea, Penn was my dream reach school and GW was my super safety, and admission to Penn is that much more difficult than to GW for a reason.

If you’re drawn to the DC location of GW, you can always take advantage of the Washington Semester Program, which Penn offers:

http://www.american.edu/washingtonsemester/

http://www.polisci.upenn.edu/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=153

GW has more of an urban campus than even Penn does, in the heart of DC. It depends what kind of environment you want.

Penn has a nice compromise between a “campus” and being in a city, but it has a great Poli Sci and International Relations department. And, as someone said above, you can do that semester in DC through one of the Penn departments.

For undergrad, I think you’d have a better experience at Penn, and more opportunities.

For Graduate School, I might give you a different answer, though. Graduate school is a completely different animal than undergrad, because at Grad school you are ONLY studying that one field. In undergrad, something like 75% of you classes won’t even be in your major. Go for the overall, cohesive experience of college! Penn definitely wins in spades the majority of time for that kind of stuff.
