Penn vs. JHU

Which is better for pre-med/college experience? I really wanted to do JHU BME, but I didn't get in. But I'm liking their Biophysics program. On the other hand, Penn's bioengineering is really good. But the question remains, premed?

In general, they're both excellent for pre-med. It's really a matter of fit and which one you personally prefer.

In terms of academics, Penn offers much greater variety, breadth, and depth for undergraduates (under its "One University" policy, undergrads are encouraged to take courses in more than one of the undergraduate schools and in 8 of the graduate and professional schools). The greater variety and breadth also applies to extracurriculars and types of students. Additionally, Philadelphia has a lot more to offer in terms of cultural, historical, dining, entertainment, and nightlife attractions and amenities than Baltimore, and they're easily accessible to Penn students as Center City is less than a mile away.

But again, it's a matter of personal preference and fit, and you really should visit both schools to decide which is best for YOU.

our bioengineering program is a very interdiscplinary program that works very closely with the med school / health system.

i chose to come to penn bioengineering over hopkins bme, as did many of my friends, because of all the great academic, social, extracurricular opportunities here.
