<p>Don't know but I lived 2 hrs west of Syracuse for 20 yrs. It's dingy, overcast, and depressing. And that's in the summer.</p>
<p>Smeal definitely beats Syracuse, both for academic quality and national reputation.</p>
<p>Remember, you'll be at main campus in two years and get the same degree as someone who was accepted directly. Unless being at a branch bothers you a lot, I'd suggest taking the route that's better in the long run (and cheaper for that matter).</p>
