Hello~
I got into UPenn, USC, and Berkeley. and I was wondering which school is better in terms of biology, school reputation, etc. I want to major in premed. and I dont know which school would be best for me. I visited all the schools, and thought they were all good. Can someone tell me their characteristics in terms of biology as a major, school reputation, how the school would prepare me for a career, preparation for med school, etc.
Thanks. ^^

Wait...did you get into UPenn ED?

how'd u already hear from berkeley. uh oh. . .

what? berkeley decisions come out late March! are you in for spring quarter or something?

If you're a Cali resident, go to Cal. That's should be a no-brainer. Best value for money for in-state. If you're from the East Coast and it would be very expensive for you to study in Berkeley as OOS, go to UPenn.

If you're asking for prestige, Cal would blow both schools away. Cal's reputation (for undergrad) is tie with Caltech and just right below HYPSM. I would pressume UPenn has a better overall reputation than USC.

well. let's see, you were accepted to Penn ED. And, now you are asking if you should be unethical bcos you did not pull your apps.

al1nax01- can you please tell us how you found out so early? I thought Berkeley wasn't notifying till end of March.

If money is no problem, choose between USC and Penn. Cal being a public school, you might see class over crowding or problem of getting the classes you want. And, you'll be competing with 3,999 other nurdy kids for A's.

Then, I seriously doubt you already heard from these three. Definetely not Cal.

Penn>Cal>USC

c-bound:

yes, Cal does not announce until end of March, but invitations for Regent's interviews go out in Feb. If invited for an interview, it means that acceptance is assured.

I would not choose Cal for pre-med. The term cut throat comes to mind.

Lol.. so many attacks! this was a theoretical thread for me. sorry if i got anyone confused. @_@
i actually got in Penn ED, but I also applied to berkeley and USC. i absolutely love Penn and wouldnt change it for another school. i withdrew both applications by email, but i just recieved a packet from usc yesterday saying i got in.
the reason i made this thread was because i was just wondering the viewpoint of other people on the reputation of the premed program at those schools and how these schools would compare.
this is just theoretical.

o.. to clear things up, i didnt really get into Cal. like i said, this is theoretical ^^

...if it's all hypothetical, then don't say:

And anyway, if you got in Penn ED, why would you even be bothered with "theoreticals" (hypotheticals)? You're bound to go. Berkeley and USC are not options for you (unless, of course, there's some significant financial problem with Penn, which I doubt).

I believe Regents' invitations aren't till mid-February or so (Valentine's Day and such).
