I'm an international student and have been waitlisted for Penn SEAS. I've agreed to stay on the waitlist. I thought I'd start a thread for all the waitlistees. Any of you have any hope? And what do waitlistees usually do other than send a letter and wait.........(indicating the longer wait :P)

Hey there
I’m still waiting too.
All we can do at this point is just…wait.

Question though–say we do get off the waitlist–will they give you a financial aid package offer at the same time, provided we turned in pretty much all the required forms back before regular decisions even came out?

I don’t want to accept an offer and then find out I can’t afford it (yeah money is pretty much a huge issue for me).

Anyway, for those of you guys waiting, where do you plan on enrolling/know you’ll still be happy at if you can’t get into Penn?

I’m going to be putting in my deposit for Carnegie Mellon soon. :)

^ You will never be forced to accept an offer of admission without knowing how much financial aid you’ll get. Even early decision applicants have the right to refuse Penn’s offer of admission if the financial aid is not sufficient.

@ 45 Percenter–
Thanks for the helpful post! Well all I can think of now is to hope if I can even get off the list in the first place, haha.

I’m actually pretty surprised Penn waitlisted me; I was expecting a flat out rejection. If I get in though, I’m pretty sure I’ll go if financial aid is good.

Does anyone ever go back and read through their supplements/essays on common app, and go:
facepalm Goodness, I submitted this terrible thing to colleges? Someone help me… D:

^ There’s usually no specific number announced in advance, as it depends on the RD yield and ongoing waitlist activity at other schools; but last year, 56 applicants were accepted from the waitlist.

Have you guys sent out your letters/emails yet?
I’m not sure who to address it to… my regional professional or the Office of Undergraduate Admissions?

Does anyone know what to do? For some reason it doesn’t even feel like I am on a waitlist. I found out two weeks after the decision came out that I got waitlisted since I had given up all hope that any Ivy League schools would even consider me. Does anybody have any further advice? Of those accepted who is planning not to attend?

Who’s excited about the waitlist? Guys, we have a 2nd chance so let’s all hope for the best!

I’ve got a pretty optimistic view point about this, but maybe that’s because I feel satisfied if I do end up at the school I will deposit to in 2 days.
Penn is my top choice, yet in my head, I’ve accepted the fact that if I can’t get my dream, there’s another route towards success at a different school.

Where are you guys all planning on depositing to on May 1st?

I’m probably going to end up at University of South Florida if I don’t get into Penn. I’ll be doing the 7yrs accelerated medical program there. But Penn… if i can get off the waitlist, I’m going!

riverx, have you done anything since you’ve got waitlisted? like sending recs and stuff? I’m considering sending in an art supplement that i’ve regretted to submit earlier… but i heard the admissions officers can get annoyed if you send in too many things.

Nice! I’m actually thinking I’ll enroll at UM, ahhaa.

I had my counselor send in grades for the quarter, which were pretty decent as well.
How big is the art supplement? If it’s like a page big than it should be fine!

How do they review the waitlisted students? (region, major, etc)

Do they actually check the additional materials that all waitlisted students sent in? or do they only check the ones that they’re interested in?

When would we be able to find out the estimate of how many enrolled?
