Pennkeys????

Has anyone received their Pennkeys yet?

Yep. You should get directions on how to set it up today or tomorrow.

hey, is anyone else presented a list of potential names to choose from? My pennkey setup won't let me make up my own name, and the ones they suggest all cut off at least one letter of my name :( Won't kill me but irritating nonetheless.

Also, I'm planning to take courses in Wharton, but haven't officially signed up anywhere. What should I do if none of the suggested names have 3 numbers in them?

what 3 numbers?

and you're limited to 8 letters in your pennkey

and what do you mean by "planning to take courses in wharton" - if you were accepted to wharton, you can make your wharton account / email

"Wharton Students: If you are a Wharton student or plan to take courses at Wharton, please choose a PennName containing at least 3 characters."

I got accepted into the DMD program, and the director told me that some of the kids take classes from wharton on the side and basically double major. It's not the M&T program either, so I was pretty confused, but she said that students can do that as long as they can fit it into their schedules. .....I'm digressing. Thanks for the tip though :P

i got the letter today , but how do get my email? I set up pennkey and all those emergency contact questions and stuff.

has everyone else gotten one? I feel like I should call the school tomorrow if i dont get it by noon-ish

oh yeah dmd is awesome

and the requirement for 3 characters (characters, not numbers) is for webcafe / huntsman lab / wharton class account access

I don't understand something...
Do I need first to set up my pennkey and only then to try to log into spike to create a Wharton email account? Or do I create my email account with the pennkey I got in the mail?

Any international students that already get their pennkey? :(

pennkey setup, then email setup

still didn't get anything.

neither have i

me neither

the wharton acct gives you 2 addresses.... one that is lifetime and the other that is current... can we use both equally? are emails gonna all be sent to both?

You'll only use the current one.

The lifetime account is a redirect that simply forwards email from that account to another specified address. I don't know anyone who uses it, and you'd only really use it as an alum.

The 3 characters thing is a general rule. It means your email address is at least xxx@school.upenn.edu , and I've seen anyone with a shorter email address. The general rule for email address creation at penn is yourpennkeyname@school.upenn.edu

what about seas emails? how do i set up mine?

after you make your pennkey

https://www2.seas.upenn.edu/accounts/

Can anyone tell me how to set up the PennKey? All I have received so far is a 9 digit Student ID number. I'm an international student.

yeah that's not actually your main student id, it's just your identification to replace a social security number, since you're not an american citizen.

your main student id number is 8 digits long and will be on your penncard.

you have to wait until you get a pennkey setup code in the mail before you can set it up.

how did you get your penn ID? mail? email? I'm an international too but i didnt get it :(
