Pennn?!?!?!?!

I'm a hispanic male, have legacy (sophomore sister in wharton), and am going to apply early decision to Penn Engineering.
SAT scores are 2150, but GPA is 3.6 (unweighted)
i have all honors and AP/IB classes.
my school doesn't rank, so idk that.
i'm also the president of two clubs, play jv tennis, work at a learning center, and tutor.

what do you think are my chances of getting in?
this is my dream school :]

thanks everyone!

Sister doesn’t count as legacy but you have a shot given your URM hook.

3.6? Let’s get to 3.8 UW at the least buddy.
SATs should be atleast 2200, 2300 would be best in this case.

No offense, but your URM status is rare and useful. Try organizing some protests again that Arizona law, setting up tutoring and like peer counseling/advise giving to younger hispanics. (I’m not being racist or anything, just giving you some advice)
Don’t think that counts as legacy.

Try accomplishing some of this over the summer, and you’ll stand a great chance at UPenn. Though your SAT’s are good enough for Cornell ED, just get that GPA to 3.7.
You’re probably a jr., but if not, you should apply to LEAD Engineering for next summer. It’d look EXCELLENT on your resume.

oh well sister doesnt count as legacy, per see, but it is very beneficial, especially at penn. (or so i heard)
and thanks for your tips honorlions, a little harsh, but yeah.
and i’ll definitely look into LEAD Engineering, it sounds interesting; and i’m a sophomore now so i have time next summer definitely.
thank you both :D

You heard wrong. The fact that your sister goes to Penn does nothing to bolster your chances at admission.

As for your stats, your GPA and SAT are too low for Penn. Hopefully you’ve done well and/or will do well on your APs and Subject tests. Your extracurriculars are wholly unimpressive; you lack distinction and recognition.

High reach, even with the ED.

leadengineeringsite.org;
^^^ LEAD Engineering.

And you’re not totally wrong. Thru your sister you can get valuable insight about applying to/picking out stuff at college. It’s more of an indirect thing, not direct.
Just google engineering programs, most schools have summer/weekend programs for that stuff.

It is so refreshing to see someone doing IB here on CC :)

You look good, which program would you be applying to? That would affect your chances.

I have the same SAT score, haha. Your sister does not really help you much, but your URM status does.

Nevermind! I just saw the engineering part. I apologize. And doing ED is good.

What are you passionate about? Your extracurriculars do not really have a focus.

Good luck :)

Your GPA may be, but your SAT is within range. UPenn is a reasonable reach.
