I know this question just begs for arguments to start, but I'm wondering what UPenn's general feeling is about multiple SATs? For example, if a student was to take the SATs three times and superscore a 2110, would that look bad? Would they look positively upon a student who takes it a fourth time and scores fifty or so points higher?

They superscore.

Don’t take it a fourth time.

Even with a 700 CR 710 MA 700 WR?
I have a friend at Princeton (also accepted into M&T at Wharton) with a 2380 (single time) who said do whatever it takes to increase my scores.

from what i have seen on this board (in general, not specific to Penn):

1x - stellar
2x - still good
3x - Maximum, but ok if you achieve a significant improvement
4x + - not looked upon favorably

even College Board says that after 3rd time it is very hard to move the scores.

I believe after 2nd attempt, it is better to try ACT and get atleast 1 point better than what your best SAT would be equal to.
For eg. if 2220 = 33, try for a 34 on ACT rather than taking the SAT a 3rd and hoping to move it to 2280 (which is the = of 34 on the ACT)

Just my two cents.

Hmm…my only thought is that if I actually study, I could raise my writing score by 20-80 points and math by 10-60 points.

Maybe you should have studied the 3 other times then.

Interesting, I have a friend that got into Princeton and M&T, but chose M&T. Solid financial move, I’d say.

As for your SAT scores; I understand your desire to retake and potentially improve your scores, but like the others said, this would appear unfavorably on your part, and it would be unlikely to improve anything.
In my experience, the only way to study is through practice, and you’ve had at least 12 hours of that. Just leave it be, and impress with your SAT IIs, GPA, recommendations, essays, and the myriad, more important parts of your application.

i agree with the above posts. i got 670m/610cr/670w took again and got 800m/650cr/600w. big improvement so i considered taking it again and studying just as much but then decided to go for the ACTs

If you genuinely think taking it a fourth time will help boost your scores if you study your butt off, then go for it, but understand that they will redflag you. Taking it that many times is risky, especially if your improvement isn’t all that great. If you manage to bring a 2100 to a 2250+ or something, I’d say eh, why not. But if it’s 2100 to like a 2170, then no.

What is your evidence for this? Not necessarily doubting, just curious.
