PennState or Bowling Green State Univ?

I am a piano student. My dream is becoming a private piano teacher as well as pianist. Could anyone help me, which one is better: PennState or Bowling Green State? Thanks.

Pennsylvania State – University Park is ranked 47th in the nation, tier one.
Bowling Green State University is a tier three school.

Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot, Sezon! How do you know that this school is tier 1 or tier 3? I know that PennState is a good school, is it also good for music/piano program?

Please, don’t rely soley on Sezon’s opinion. While I’m a PSU student myself, and LOVE the school, it’s not for everyone. You need to take the time to visit both schools and make your decision on a variety of things, not just that crummy US News & World list. It’s meaningless at the end of the day.

Something that really woke me up as an incoming freshman was the orientation held in the BJC on the first day. President Spanier addressed all the incoming freshman and told everyone to look to both their left and right, going on to say that one you three would not complete your degree at PSU. I’ve seen many friends struggle and drop out for various reasons. Bottom line is PSU is a MUCH larger school than BG. If you’re not ready to handle that kind of environment, along with the freedoms it gives you and the responsibilities you need to take on your own, you’ll find yourself packing up much sooner than what you anticipated.

I have known many music majors at BGSU and they have all been very pleased with their education. It is a very supportive environment for musicians. Are these your only choices?

Thanks a lot thepro and MamaDrama! I have visited both schools and I like them both but I think I will choose PennState. Now I am thinking about College Conservatory Cincinnati. I am sorry, 1 more question: which one is better especially for piano major, PennState or Cincinnati? Thanks in advance!
