i got into PennState Smeal and at Boston Univ i only got into the College of General Studies (CGS) and wont be able to start the business program
till Junior yr..

im still confused on where to go..which do u think is a better overall school?(location, social life, business program..)

BU has a better location by far in terms of cultural stuff, things to do, restaurants, clubs, nightlife etc...

BU has a smarter student body based on statistics than Penn State

Although Smeal is ranked higher than BU for business, BU has the advantage of being smack in Boston which will open doors to companies and various recruiting opportunities that may not be prevalent at an isolated campus such as Penn State.

I'd go with BU not only from a location and things to do stand point but also a potential recruiting standpoint.

For Business you'd be crazy not going to Penn State. Their business program is very highly regarded and is constantly making strides (especially their Entreprenership program).

alot of people are telling me to go to PennState because i only got into CGS at BU..but i feel when i look at the location/internship aspect..BU is a much better choice being in a financial district..and i think this can open up many opportunities

i know i won't be able to really get invovled in the business aspect of things until junior year at BU..but does anyone know what the transition is like from CGS to the school of management?

i've always liked pennstate and the school itself being its own town. and i know they have a great business program, but when i think of how isolated the campus is and what opportunities there really are, i kind of get set back.

if someone knows something different and if my assumptions are wrong, can you please help me out, because as of now i don't know what to look for (location? business program?)..and what will i be better off with in the future?

The CGS is a great thing. IMO, it prepares you better for what to expect later on. You should have no problem transitioning to the school of management. I plan on doing the same. :)

lol yea..i hear that all the time, that CGS is looked down upon..but honestly i dont know why and i think its stupid. I don't care what other people think about the program, its the 2nd largest incoming class at BU and prepares you for the future..

I still have my concerns about going to CGS over PennState Smeal, but i find the location aspect of both schools to be really important. I think i'd be better doing business in a financial city(internships) instead of pennstate which is very isolated.

Regardless of who's business program is higher ranked, i find location to be very important. Am i right? or i'm being an idiot and rambling on for no reason? lol

You're very right for all the right reasons, and the same as me. CGS is an amazing problem. Dont let any idiot here sway you any other direction.

Id say PSU...youd get a great experience there. I guess it matters which you like better. Visiting would have helped out alot (as I met someone at PSU who chose PSU over reg. BU)

PSU has a lot of opprotunities in the NY area too and the Philly area, so keep that in mind... I personally would chose PSU, but I didn't go there when I had the shot, so I shouldnt talk about this ahhaha
