pennsylvania members - need help finding school

Kind of random but I need help finding the name of a specific university. All I know is that it is just outside or possibly on the outskirts of Philly and used to be a college but is now a university. Its also a small private university that offers a nursing program. Any idea which school it is?

Did you try googling? Offhand, I can name Holy Family, Neumann, Widener, Eastern, West Chester, Gwynedd-Mercy, Villanova, La Salle, St. Joseph’s. Others that have been universities for quite a while (and not small) are UPenn, Drexel, Temple, Thomas Jefferson.

Sounds like LaSalle. Used to be LaSalle College, now is LaSalle University. Nursing is one of its biggest majors. It’s in the Philadelphia area north of Rt 1.

nice town to choose to have this problem. Philly has more schools of higher ed than most any town in America. and that includes you, Beantowners, methinks. that’s a heck of a list, kidncatz. One more school to add: Immaculata University.

York perhaps? Well-known for nursing.

^Except that York is 1 3/4 to 2 hours from Philly and is currently a college (formerly a junior college).

Arcadia University in Glenside? (used to be Beaver College). I don’t know if has a nursing program but it has health sciences and a very respected Physician Assistant program.

geez, in the West, an hour-and-a-half drive IS “just outside the city”–but that’s not the way we easterners think. Had friends who used to drive 3.5 hours each way for a sunday visit to family. Of course, the scenery was better than what you’d find stuck in traffic on the NJTP.

hey I appreciate the responses so ive narrowed it down to Thomas Jefferson, La Salle, Immaculata University, St. Josephs.

All of these are small private universities just outside Philly that offer nursing programs and were once colleges. Any others to the list?

First place I thought of was Arcadia.

Thomas Jefferson and La Salle are in the city.
