Right now my top 5 are IUP, Millersville, East Stroudsburg, Kutztown, and Bloomsburg. I was wondering if anyone knew of any other PA state school to look into? Right now I'm leaning towards IUP.

West Chester

University of Pittsburgh, Gettysburg College

Why are you leaning toward IUP?

If you could give some specifics as to why you like it we could offer suggestions of schools similiar.

You are listing all “true” PA State Schools. PA also has many private schools. The privates schools cost more, but many offer merit and grant packages that can bring the prices in-line with state schools. If you are interested in any privates, please post your stats and ECs.

If you are set on PASSHE schools only, then I second West Chester – the vibe is similiar to IUP, the town has an active nightlife and is situated near Philadelphia and they have an honors college.

If your stats are high, consider Pitt. The tuition is higher but Pitt (unlike Penn State) is known to provide merit scholarships (much less for PA residents than OOS, but still it could bring price in-line with IUP).

I really like IUP because of the suite style living. Private school living at a state school price. It’s a rural area but is relatively close to Pittsburgh which I like. Right now I have a 2.9 GPA and a 1430 3 part SAT, so if I were to consider Pitt or Penn State I would be looking at satellite campuses.

West Cheter has suites too. I don’t know if freshmen actually can get in them or if they are scooped up by upper classmen. check here [Allegheny Hall](http://www.wcuhousing.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4&Itemid=7)

For private schools – They will be smaller than IUP. If you want to consider privates, I’d recommend starting by taking a look at York College. I noticed on another thread you were interested in sports management which York offers (5% freshmen major in it). York offers some nice merit aid – they offer it to a large portion of students, so in my area many folks consider it a “tuition discount” more than competitve merit. The total cost of York is very low compared to most private schools.

With your stats, I wouldn’t consider Penn State satellites if cost is a factor because they won’t offer any help.

No matter what – I recommend you try and keep your choices open by applying to at least 5 schools. I prefer to see students apply to a mix of private and PASHHE because the financial aid/merit packages can sometimes offer nice surprises.

Here is a link to a list of all PASSHE. My cousin loved Mansfield, but it is VERY rural to me.
I prefer to have the option of driving into a city for sports/concerts.

prbaseballfan - as a graduate from York… You’d like it there as a sports management major. Probably have to do a traditional dorm your first year but there are a million very nice apartments on campus for the rest of your stay.

If you looked at the other schools on your list I would definitely visit there too. I looked at almost all of the ones on your list and loved it by far the most.
