I don't have good comparative info for you, but I wanted to congratulate you on having two fine choices. I suspect they share enough of the same strengths that you'll be okay whichever you decide.

Hopefully someone who has looked carefully at these two schools together will be along to offer some insight.

Why would you transfer from these schools? I'm partial to MSU but PSU is decent academically.

Just 1 question. Who says Pennsylvania State lol?

And I don't know which one is better. Jus do some research, see the rankings of engineering schools and see where each school ranks and which is higher. Just one suggestion.

haha bearsfolife i was thinking the same thing......i dont have any good info for you faraz but good luck with your decision!

Faraz, in what state are you located? If you reside in either of these 2 states, I'd make the local choice for obvious financial considerations. Also I, like Lake Washington, am perplexed by your desire to transfer to a private uni down the pike. Why would you do that after attending one of these fine to public Us?

Especially for engineering.

hi guys.. thanks for your replies...
actually.. ill be an international student....

so, im in a bit of a dilemma here.. which one is good for engineering programs.... i would want to transfer to university of pennsylvania or university of michigan.... if i decide to attend either of the two respectively. I know rankings don't really paint the whole picture but PSU is ranked higher than MSU in engineering programs.... but i've heard a lot of michigan state and not so much of penn state... although its way above msu in the rankings..

i missed the deadlines for the private unis like MIT, u penn etc. because i was UK bound before.... i somehow managed to get 2300 in my SAT on my first sit... and i only just managed to register for the SAT before the registration dates closed....

This is one case where I can't argue too much about the rankings: PSU is probably better than MSU in engineering, although I'm not sure by how much it should be considered, given that MSU is, indeed, quite good in engineering. But engineering is the cornerstone of Penn State and it ranks among the best. Conversely, it's not surprising you'd hear more about MSU being an overseas student. MSU is one of America's leading school in terms of international presence -- part of this is because it's the leading U in terms of sending students to study abroad. Also, it has long had ties to foreign countries for international development, particularly in agricultural and business fields.
