Hey everyone~ I'm an international transfer for 2012 fall semester and really need your advice now. I admit that I was too naive and made huge mistake on my school list. I applied to 12 universities yet so far only got 4 rej and none AD. The other 8 probably will disappoint me again.

Here's my stats:(my schools are all in Asia)
HS gpa 3.7+ ranking20/1400 Poor freshman gpa(ok..I did screwed up)
honor student
SAT 2200(CR+MA=1530)
SAT us history800 math2 800
take 2 years off university to do NGO programs and internships
no financial consideration for now

I'm thinking about attending a cc and then transfer to my dream school. Can I transfer out after only one year at CC? Won't it be too late to apply to cc till mid May? Please offer me any constructive advice you've got, I just need to get enrolled this fall. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk in details, thx a lot!!!!

You can transfer out after one year at CC but most schools will want you to have a certain number of units (and due to budget cuts/ pre reqs it will probably take two years). Where I am at, Los angeles, there are some community colleges that offer special programs for international students (e.g. counseling) so you might want to check that out.

I know several people that graduated from China/Taiwan and end up doing their masters here. I also know one from Indonesia that will be transferring his second year to a UC. You should try to apply to the CC as soon as possible (it is free I believe) to get an earlier enrollment date.

Good luck!

Thank u!!! I will try my best to earn as much credits as I could in a year and maintain a high gpa. I plan to transfer to UNC-chapel hill, Emory or Northwestwen, you think I’d better attend an in-state community college that has articulation agreement with these schools or just average cc is fine? ^ ^
