Ok so I've been reading a bunch of posts on cc about act scores lately, and they have scared me a lot. Lets get one thing straight getting above a 30 on the act is AMAZING, like less than 5% of the people who take the ACT do that well. No offers e but the people on this site are freaks of nature. Not everyone gets that great of scores! Dont get down on yourself if you can't get your scores to match most people's on this website.

Don’t believe everyones’ scores on this website. Secondly, most of these CCers are the hardworking bunch of their high schools. I was scoring in the high 10’s on the ACT when I just started preparing and I scored a 27 on the June ACT (which was harder than the practice exams in The Real ACT) and my score is still slowly improving. Don’t give up, and spend at least over 100+ hours of preparing for this exam before giving up. I have done well over 150+ hours of preparation since I started in July of last year.

mrrocketman, that was a really great post. I couldn’t agree with you more. You need to be realistic about yourself, no comparing to others! That’s such a daunting task and you’ll end up putting so much pressure on yourself that you’re actually setting yourself up for failure. When I say realistic, don’t try to settle, know what you’ve accomplished thus far and know that you could probably push those limits to do better.

pantherman11 don’t be scared! Do what you have to do for the schools you want to get into and get scores that show personal improvement.

Oh I was talking about other people … I got a 31

How did you a get a 31? Share your secret please!!!

And will you please read my post and answer it!!! I really need someone with a perfect score to help me out

31 is far from perfect, if I got a perfect score i wouldn’t be retaking the ACT. The only reason why i posted this thread was i remembered how bad I felt after the first time I took the ACT (I got a 25).

How did you improved your score?

It’s all about prepping. I went from an 18 to a 26. Still, I have to do some more studying, and my ultimate goal is a 36.

It’s not all about prepping. If that was true the ACT wouldn’t be doing its job. It’s mean to test aptitude, but it is impossible to make a test that people will not do better on with more practice. Either way, congrats on your improvement. I haven’t been able to raise my score more than 2 points.
