I've been reading a lot on here that there is a certain type of person that really fits at Tulane. What types of people/qualities tend to fit in there? If you don't mind, be a specific as possible because I am pretty sure Tulane is where I want to go, but I want to make sure that it's a good match people wise. Thanks!

First off, where are you from?

Secondly, a lot of humanitarian types I believe end up there. The city is still rebuilding and potential students like to help out. The area offers a great on the job training experience for students interested in environmental projects/volunteer work.

Also, it is in a party town, and it a party school. If you love to have fun, then go there.

In fact, the "party" reputation is the only thing that is holding me back from absolutely loving this school.

People there are highly intelligent but in a laid back way.

I'm from New England (Connecticut). From what you said, everything seems perfect. I am really interested in doing community service and helping rebuild New Orleans! I mean, I've always been pretty into volunteering and I feel like there's so much that could be done to help oy there.

I do like to have fun, don't get me wrong, but the whole party reputation is definetely not something that I would have desired in a school. For me, there's so many pros and cons to this. I like some aspects of it being a party school, but I dislike others.

Haha, I'd like to think I'm laid back, but then again, I live in New England... is a laid back new englander equivalent to an uptight southerner?

I really like the idea of immersing myself in the southern culture... I think it's time for something new, but part of me thinks it might be too new and I might not fit in. Ahh, I don't really know, I just know I'm obsessed with Tulane at the moment :D

well if you feel overwhelmed by NO, just go back to your dorm lol. most of tulane is not from LA.

and yes. a laid back northerner = uptight southerner most likely

let me see...if you go visit someones house do you feel uncomfortable taking your shoes off, plopping on the couch, and watching their tv ..or do you feel weird having people bring you food and expecting you to help or something in return later

also..do you like deer meat? :P i hope you do its awesome

ellie - As a fellow Northesterner, it's my opinion that you'll fit in just fine. Be sure to visit before making your final decision!
