People at Your School and CC

Until a few minutes ago, I didn't know anyone from my school who frequents this website. I feel bad, but I've been hiding it even from my really good friends who could use some college admissions help. (I do tell them lots of stuff that I read on here, to make up for it :)) It's not that I don't go to a good school, it's just that no one knows/cares about college admissions. I see a lot of intellegent people who will probably be slayed by admissions process simply because they don't know how to play the game.

Another issue is that I've revealed a lot of personal stuff on here that many people don't know. I'd die if someone I knew read some of the things I've posted.

Do you know anyone from your school on this site? Do you talk about it in school? Do you keep it a secret?

i know this person on my school used to be on here but he left rather quickly. i don't usually talk about it at school though. i mean, i've recommended the website to some of my friends but they never registered. maybe they're lurkers? either way, it would be difficult for them to recognize me based on the info in my posts.

Lol, yeah I know only one other user that goes to the same school as I do, although I do also know that my AP English teacher goes on this forum too.

Yeah, pretty much everyone in real life knows what I post under. Including a bunch of people that don't post here but heard about my posts from people who do. Maybe I should make a new account. Then again, if they found me the first time they'd probably find me again.

(This is why you shouldn't go to a small school. Gossip spreads like wildfire.)

Yeah, I don't tell anyone that I come on here. I hope nobody I know comes on here because it would be bad if they read some stuff.

One of my really good friends is registered on here, but she barely posts. Anyway, I kind of like that not too many people from my school are on here. I'm like the college guru among my friends.

I have told as many people as possible about this site and about any scholarships or finaid programs. I believe that the more people you help in your life, the happier you will be.

i think people just see chances board...they definitely don't read this board at my school...one girl was like "I found this weird site called like College Private and all the people were like 2300s!" once

i only told one good friend of mine-and she reacted so negatively ("Why would you ever try that hard?" etc) that i haven't ever told anyone else

Other people at my school go on CC- I sometimes hear them talk about it, but I don't join in or anything. I also know someone is on here from a program I went to- probably more. I wouldn't mind if some people read my posts, but I'd sort of rather keep real life and CC life separate.

It's the same exact way for me. I don't tell anyone about this place or any other major websites I visit. There's no way my internet world and the real world are going to collide!!

I don't think anyone from my school uses this site. I've only talked about some stuff I learned on CC with one of my friends, but he's the only one who actually cares about getting into a good college like me. I certainly don't go around telling my friends I'm posting on a college admissions website.

I have seen two other people I knew from another online game/website on here though.

A few people I know have joined, but only one has become a well-established member, and I've only seen her a few times anyway. I have told a few people, but they generally don't like the idea.

If anyone I knew saw a post of mine they would definately know my true identity. Is it even possible to erase an account and start a new one? I guess it doesn't matter much, though - I've only posted a few mildly embarassing things...

I don't tell people about CC for the same reasons as the OP. I had a friend that I suspected might be lurking on here, but when I found out she didn't know that there are two AP Physics courses, I realized she probably didn't come on here very much, if at all. She also didn't know what EC means. I just don't want people at my school figuring out all this stuff about me, and I don't want my super competitive friend knowing all my secrets. Hehe. But I also share what I've read on here, though most people I know still aren't interested.

No one in my class really cares about college yet (then again, we are "only" sophomores), but one of my friends registered. She really wants to go to TCNJ and looked around the forums for a while, but you guys all scared her off with your 2400s and 4.0s.

I don't know if any juniors or seniors are registered. It would be interesting to come across someone I know from school on CC, but it probably won't happen. Even if I did, I wouldn't know it's him/her, and he wouldn't know it's me.

I don't think anyone at my school has even heard of CC. (I feel sorry for them. One girl - an honors student - had to ask me what the maximum SAT score was.) I've tried explaining CC, but most of them don't get the point. The vast majority will attend colleges within commuting distance, and we're not exactly in Cambridge.

Nobody cares whether you go on this site or not at my school. Most people don't know about it. However, I did meet several people from my school on here, including one that I am now good friends with that I had never even seen before.

It's funny though. It's really easy to pick out people from my school.

I sincerely doubt that anyone from my school goes on here. I counted today, and there are exactly 12 people in our graduating class of 240 that are leaving this state! One of our valedictorians is going to a CSU (granted, she has good reasons, and it sounds like it should be a good match for her). Half the kids in my school aren't even planning on going to college! It's depressing. And most of them have no clue about all of the ins and outs of applications. We were talking about it in English, because we have to write a paper about it, and some of the questions people asked totally shocked me.

I havn't told anyone I go on CC. It would make me seem even more like an insane overacheiver. A lot of people act like I'm superhuman and can get into whatever college I want to, just because I take more AP classes than anyone else in the school and do well in them. They just totally don't get competitive college admissions. I don't know what they'd think if they saw everyone here.

I go on CC to feed my slight obsession with researching college stuff. I probably know about more than 99% of the kids I know due to this site. I occasionally encounter a few people who have heard of this site who live in the same city. My one friend goes on very occasionally but that's it. I am rather reluctant to share this site with others just because I like that it is a different outlet for me

I keep it a secret cause I don't want anyone to find out that this is my account and then read some of my posts.
