People, please help me decide.

I got accepted to USC for freshman year. I am from Boston, MA, almost half hemisphere away from LA, CA. I am a shy, quiet, and not too social going male. I definitely want to change my personality so I want to go to LA and experience the rich diverse social life there. But I am also afraid this radical move of my will backfire and I will end up being totally isolated without even my family's support. So my worry is that is people at USC nice? and how is racism there? afterall I am not white.

well what race are you??? b/c that is the most important factor. JK!!! seriously, usc is sooo diverse that i highly doubt you will feel out of place. I think that even shy people will be able to make friends b/c they are forced to meet people when living in residents hall etc. Don't worry, I think USC is prpbably moe diverse that Boston. USC is such a great university and I believe you will like it. I hope I will since I plan to go to USC next year. And I'm not white either.

I'm not too far from you, NH, and I'm going to USC next year. I feel that without my family if I ever want to have someone to talk to I'll have to meet new people. I'm looking forward to to the change, a major upside of this for me is no more New England winters. Are you going to the admitted students reception tomorrow in Boston, that will probably give you a better feel for the school in general. Also if you can visit I would do it, my visit isn't what convinced me to choose USC, but I'm glad I know what I'm getting into before I'm spending a lot for my education. I think USC will be a good fit for me, even though I'm not the most out going person, I improved in high school, and I'm looking forward to the new environment. Good luck with your choice, it's a personal decision and no one here can tell you definitively if USC is the best fit for you.

That was one thing that I was considering when applying to school sback east. It would have been ok and I would have coped with it, but you will make friends. DOnt worry. The diversity is also very large in LA.
