Fair enough, care to elaborate how statistics applies to the discussion at hand?
I don’t think nonsensical rambling constitutes a sound argument. Besides ad hominem attacks, do you have anything to actually offer to this thread? I’m beginning to think that I’ve been badly ■■■■■■■.

I’m not saying that they shouldn’t celebrate! But it’s been made clear to me that a lot of people are legitimately surprised that they are accepted to these schools, even though they could have predicted their acceptance since they met the required qualifications.

You just entirely avoided my question. I asked you to elaborate, and if you actually could elaborate, you would have already.
That’s not even a rebuttal to my point.
It’s not meant to be clever, it’s a candid statement. But I’ll use your form of reasoning just for fun. If you can’t make a logical point, and logical is determined by me, your abilities are limited. Think of it that way.
Arrant fool and “Jersey, the fool, 13” are both ad hominem attacks.

You * just entirely my avoided my question.
You cannot understand the issue!
I indicated in my first post that law of large numbers is significant because CC is an online forum (attracts many people).
You told me that you know about the law of large numbers.
Apparently, you do not.
You think you do, but you do not.

Hello! Walking hypocrisy here!
You entered the thread with an ad hominem attack, calling my arguments gibberish.

Seriously, you are really annoying. If you cannot comprehend the issue, why do you argue?
If you cannot understand what you are saying, why do you argue?
Why do you argue?

Then go away? I don’t think anyone particularly enjoys arguing with you. I didn’t respond to a question you asked me earlier because I have been advised by many to ignore you. Sorry.

GUYS IT’S REALLY NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL. Relax.

I understand what the OP means. Honestly, people who brag about their college acceptances via facebook status are opening themselves to being judged. Not saying you should judge or not judge, but that’s honestly what facebook statuses are for—for public consumption. OP is free to feel however he likes about this topic. I don’t mind it, but he can if he wants.

Jozhekryx calm down already. There is no need for you to post a link to Wikipedia that is clearly irrelevant to the discussion, which is actually whether or not people’s college ignorance bothers the OP… I don’t even know what you’re trying to achieve by starting such a pointless argument.

OP needs to get the stick out of his a.ss. Who gives a ****** if less academically inclined people don’t know the acceptance rates of the colleges they are applying to. The fact that they aren’t academically inclined implies that they wouldn’t know or care anyways. OP, you need to find more meaningful stuff to complain about. This is pathetic.

I agree with Jozhekryx’s conclusion that the OP came off as arrogant, though surely that was not his intention. As for the statistical argument… I may understand the terms, but it holds none of my interest.

Flashback to cs12345. Also, seemed to break from Jozhekryx’s usual diction.
