Okay. So fully appreciating Leo Strauss requires background, chronological study. I’ll buy it for now, but that’s different than claiming that all of philosophy is the same way. I think that philosophy can be appreciated (and depending on your academic preferences, even maximally appreciated) without any major emphasis on chronology. I’m not saying that history should be ignored, or that it isn’t sometimes beneficial/imperative to study…just that it’s not the only route (nor is it necessarily the best for every student).</p>

Again, that’s fine. I’m only saying that it can be, and that some people really prefer that side of it. </p>
