People who got in ED

For all those who were accepted ED, how many of you guys actually did the page 217 essay?
I got in ED and i didnt do the p217. I guess it really really is optional.

Yeah i didn’t write one either

seriously you didnt do it?!?!
i thought it was like … a way for them to see who was really dedicated or whatever… haha i did i even though i really didnt want to and got in

I did. I think it helped me because I was able to explain a certain activity I did last summer that I wouldn’t have been able to explain anywhere else in my application. And it was pretty vital that I mentioned it.

I did the Pg217 essay before I even did the main Penn essay or the common app. The topic Pg217 instantly inspired me to write something… the other two essays I did about 3 weeks later.

My pg 217 mainly showed my wanting to help others and my ability to adapt to strange situations. But it also hinted at how I overcame adversity in my younger years while also displaying my interest in Asian affairs.

i didn’t write one…too lazy. but i got in. it’s TRULY optional. make sure your other essays are great though

i didn’t do it

I did it. It was my favorite essay and I think it might have been one of the major factors that helped tipped my application into the “in” pile. I wrote it with only a couple of days before the November 1st deadline because I got inspired at the last minute.

I’m sure it is optional, but if you think that you can show off a new side of yourself or really let admissions officers get to know you through your pg. 217, I think it can really help you. If you feel that you have succeeded in really letting admissions officers get to know you through the rest of your application (which is great!) than I think there is less of a “need” to write the pg. 217. I just know that mine revealed something about me that my other essays didn’t.

i did it, i got into huntsman and i think it REALLY helped me show Penn who I am (my SAT score was 1800).

I did it, and got into Wharton. talked about a huge canoe race that i do through the panama canal. i just wanted to clue penn into my unique experiences. i can honestly have no idea whether or not it got me in, but it sure didn’t hurt my chances. if you have something worth while to talk about that the other essays didnt allow you to cover then by all means, write!

I started to write one, but then it somehow took a realllly weird turn and i started writing about like zombies and I went back and read over it and was like “w.t.f. am I doing??” so I gave up lol

I did it…I’m kind of surprised so many people didn’t write it!

Nope…didn’t bother

no, its really optional

I did it, situation same as yuenie’s. I did it way way before deadline and other essays, cuz it really inspired me. And I also think that it’s a part of the reason I got in: I showed them a creative and fun side of me that I didn’t express anywhere else in my application.

Did anyone get into Jerome Fisher ED? If yes, could you please provide your stats (ACT, SAT, GPA)? And yeah… congrats if you did!

I wwas actually going to write on a page 217 essay, but i ran out of time. I finished my other two essays pretty close to the deadline, so 217 ended up being a low priority. I think though it wouldve hurt me if i wrote the 217 essay. I ended up writing “in the future” as some big shot engineer looking back at my high school/college years, and the little things that led up to my success. It ended up being pretty abstract though.

As for jerome fisher, i dont know anyone on cc whose gotten in Jerome Fisher ED. Theres probably only like 5 - 10 in existance right now.

I wrote one; I’m not sure how big of a role it played but I think it was a pretty good essay that allowed me to show a more creative side and a little bit of extra interest in the school since I was willing to do additional work. . .i just figured why not?

ha I had a great idea about writing the page 217 essay. Just assert that you finished the autobiography around page 215, and start writing endnotes, thus circumventing having to start on page “217” (which theoretically should be around age 30) and you can feel free to write about any part of your life. This was inspired by David Foster Wallace’s Infinite Jest. However I didn’t have enough time to write it, but I still got in. My roommate wrote his, but yet he was deferred.

it was like 10:00pm on Nov. 31st when i decided not to write one. but i got in. i guess i spared them the time to read another ****ty essay.
