Applied to college of engineering
I'd say good reccomendations and essays but abviously the adcoms didn't think so.

Uniguy: Look at the CDS posted on the other thread.....
64% of students had UMGpa's of 3.75 and higher
approx. 24% had 3.5-3.74...and I can bet those were in-state candidates....
Below 3.5....you get the picture......

You were lucky to be waitlisted....

There were OOS students deferred back in December with 3.8UW...( and I can hazard a reasonable guess that they will also be waitlisted now)

and, yes, UMich cares primarily about GPA's despite reports to the contrary.....

Does this mean that if we accept their waitlist, we HAVE to go? If you know, please PM! Thank you so much!

1320 / 1900
4.06 W (not including senior first semester which i did really well on)
Founder of a club, tons of community service, hall proctor, varsity sports

LSA

^ A lot easier.

3.63UW, 32ACT

LSA

wasn't really considering UM anymore, just curious to see my decision..so I'll probably be declining their offer for WL

waitlisted....
got thru UIUC /Vtech/Purdue....won't suffice to say I'm not happy....if we accept waitlist ....is it binding or summat???...does that mean we have to attend?...and end of june...what the hell?

and shld they not go easier on OOS since the tuition is higher????

I'm just the messenger..but the CDS doesn't lie....It is a long known fact that it is easier to be admitted to UMich from instate....UMich does not publish IS vs. OOS state data like UVa though.....It makes it look like a weird pattern of admissions; people deferred and waitlisted OOS at Michigan and accepted at top 20 schools.....(michigan: 47% admission rate v. top 20 schools: 25%)......

sherlock: You would think so, but not the case......

im oos

SAT 1960 (CR 600 W 580 M 780)

and, yes, UMich cares primarily about GPA's despite reports to the contrary.....
I got in with a 3.1 GPA so that's not all they look at.

im trying to convince myself to decline the waitlist...but i cant?
but i want it to be on my own terms (however pathetic that may sound)...so i will....eventually..

oh. and..

3.4 instate

33 act
sweet recs/essays
decent ecs with mucho leadership/commitment
app. date :9/21

and so ends the agony

liberate: What school at UMich are you so blessed to be accepted at? I'm assuming it's not LSA; sorry, but that was what my post was referring to and judging by the remainder of the posts on this thread, it seems to be holding true.....

And if you were accepted to LSA, you should be very proud, but you are an anomoly...Congrats!

I got waitlisted today, here're my stats:

SAT : 1940 , 590 CR, 710 M, 640 WR

We were really shocked...She made Georgetown/Carnegie/Stern

I should have applied early..... this all came down to early vs. regular deadline /. I applied 2/1 last day it was due... damn
