@qtip: I did the same. If it's your number one, I wish you the best.

good luck to you too, but i am just tired of waiting, and I have 4 total to wait now.. it's really frustrating and i am just gonna to penn state or UW and if i get into UNC from my wait, i will go there but otherwise, umich is offmy list

This may be a hard notion to support, but is it fair to say UPenn is more willing to accept internationals than HYP or other brand-name schools? From feedback, that is the impression I am getting.

UPenn stats will be in at UM for sure. I don't think you can really compare UM to UPenn or HYPS.

Applied to LSA with a 2000 SAT and 3.8 weighted GPA, I've taken 6 APs total and nearly all my other classes were Honors. Got a 630 Bio SAT II, then a 680 on the US History and I think a 620 on Lit.

I don't really remember by other essays, but they probably weren't that great. By the time I applied to UMich (I submitted the app on 2/1 but didn't even pay for it until 2/6) I'd already applied to all my other schools and outside of my standard personal statement (which was I think 200something words, much shorter than the UMich recommended 500 or whatever) I really did the bare minimum for pretty much the whole app.

No extracurriculars except for two clubs and a year of journalism (plus two hours of community service), I had two great teacher recommendations and I guess my counselor recommendation was good as well. I'm black, a girl, and out of state at a charter school in LA.

Don't really care that I got waitlisted though, I already submitted my deposit to attend NYU in the fall, and got into all my other schools (Boston U, Sarah Lawrence, Bryn Mawr, Fordham, Northeastern).

Apply date: 11/20

applied to LSA

liberate, how in God's name did you get in with a gpa of 3.1????????

I should have applied earlier...
I applied on Feb 1st, which is FREAKING LATE...
it was all my fault. i just accpeted the WL offer, i hope i get in.

And if you were accepted to LSA, you should be very proud, but you are an anomoly...Congrats!
Yes, LSA. My SAT scores were decent (2070) but I had an interesting hook. I started my own registered corporation which has brought in six figure revenues through the Internet.

I'm well aware that I am an anomaly. I'm still in shock myself.

Sorry to hear that all of you were waitlisted. Best of luck to you.

Here's my question...tens of thousands of applicants...ANYONE out and out rejected? It appears that U of M accepted like what 25% of it's applicants and another 72% were deferred (and moved on) or were waitlisted. I think the U of M "waitlist" means nothing this year as they obviously dumped most of their non-acceptees there to hedge their bets. The range of "waitlisted" candidtates is staggering.

Sorry to say, but it's just downright evil to WL so many people and fill them with hope. We've waited so long for an answer, and now we have to wait more :(

BTW, until when does UM set a concrete decision to the WLed people?

ya i was wondering when the waitlisted would here as well??....and they did reject some people- not everyone was waitlisted, but i agree many many were waitlisted.. this is unfair :( ....
and it's not really ethical to accept an offer from another school (UVa) and then tell them- "oh i got into michigan..cya.."...so i hate being on the waitlist!!

Anyone apply to their college of Kinesiology? Just curious, because I did. Hopefully, it's one of the lesser competetive schools--unless I'm completely mistaken.

Yes, it is known to be less competitive for admittance....Two students in our OOS high school were admitted with 3.3-3.5 UW GPA's.....

Kinesiology is not one of the lesser competitive schools. There are fewer spots in Kines as admissions reserves spots in the Sport Management program for athletes.
