Hey guys, I’m going to be an incoming freshman at Elon U this fall, and I applied with a 89.something (or 3.3) uw and 1170/1840 sat. I applied to Elon, UMCP, IU, PSU, JMU, Guilford, and Albany, and was accepted to all. Taking a lot of AP and IB classes really helped me out because I didn’t have stellar EC’s. Also my essays and teacher recs were very good. Remember to apply early though, because the longer you prolong applying, the fewer the funds that will be available.

I will be attending Cornell College in Iowa - I had a 3.3 and a 27 ACT.

University of Michigan Ann Arbor

3.25 GPA and 24 ACT
got in through essays and extra curriculars
and I am a legacy

^ Legacy doesn’t mean very much at UMich, which has the largest alumni base in the world (unless your parents donated a hell load of money to the school.)

You got in through EC’s and your essays for sure.

My friend had probably between that range unweighted and no ecs, I believe a mid 1900s on sats, but migth have been mid 1800a. He applied to Umass, BU, and northeastern for business, got into umass, waitlisted at BU and northeastern. He did get off the waitlist at northeastern, but is going to umass for financial reasons since northeastern wouldn’t have his financial aid package ready till after the deadline to accept admission.

3.73 UW GPA
not the super genius, but I think above average.
I will have had 7 AP’s and less than a 2000 on my SAT.
haha
It depends were you live,
the cool thing about living in California is the fact that they have schools for EVERYONE.
For the amazing kids,
there is Stanford and CalTech.
For the really good students, there are the UC’s.
For the average, college bound students, there are the Cal State Universities.
The UC’s and CSU’s are public, btw.

I forgot, lol, where I will apply to.
As a far far reach, but would give my right nut to go there, I am applying to
University of Chicago.
For slight to average reaches, I am applying to UC Berkeley and NYU.
For slight reaches, USC and UCLA.
Matches- Boston University, UCSB,UCSD,UCI.
safeties-San Francisco State, San jose state, Cal state long beach, CSU San Louis Obispo, San Diego State.

anorexic…what about Santa Clara and U San Diego? Both private but outstanding universities? And Pepperdine? Also good. They would be BEFORE the CalState schools you mentioned in my book…but that is me, of course.

Going to Elon? Good for YOU! Its an EXCELLENT little school with superb weather and really a growing reputation academically and athletically. The campus is gorgeous…a veritable country club. The people are about as nice as you can imagine. Just fabulous people there. And Elon kids have a reputation of being very well prepared and HARD workers…so they GET HIRED. Not the “I dont do windows because I went to snob school.” (tee-hee) You made an excellent choice. Elon kids come from all over…and a growing contigent from up north who have discovered an alternative to the Wake-Duke-UNC normal applications.

You will have a great time! Good luck!

3.27 GPA 2220 SAt. Got into UBC, RPI, Cambridge, and St. Andrew’s (although I think I only managed to get into the last two because Americans have to pay full tuition, so it gets them more money than accepting UK students)

^^^
And also because you have a high SAT score and likely did well on AP’s. This made up for your low GPA since UK unis tend to be focused more on test scores.
