While you may not care that other people don’t like it, some people actually are allergic to smoke or have asthma. So they would obviously care…and it would be the considerate thing to do to think of them as well. If you refuse to, fine. Smoke away. Just don’t be surprised if others look at you nastily. And of course, just because most people around you smoke…that makes it completely ok to partake in that disgusting habit. Way to conform.
Cigarettes not disgusting? Umm…well if you think aging prematurely, yellow teeth and nails, and inhaling tar and carbon monoxide (etc) is not disgusting… kudos to you.
Just because a lot of other things are super unhealthy doesn’t mean cigarette smoking is still a good idea.
So you have money to waste. Way to utilize your assets…spending your money on cigarettes. Instead of saving it up, donating it, investing it…you’d clearly much rather spend it on cigarettes. You are truly a productive member of society.

I hate cigarette smoking. It is foul beyond reason and I cannot even begin to comprehend why people even bother to start. Ok, when people drink they tend to like to smoke. Fine. Some people enjoy a cigarette once in a while. Fine. It is hard to quit. Fine. I’m not going to tell people what to do with their lives…but I most definitely am going to judge the heck out of them.

Oh and the argument of “go somewhere else?” When I work and you come into the store reeking of disgusting cigarettes, and I have to serve you, how in the world am I going to avoid smelling it?

it’s no one’s place to judge others on the things they do. it’s their life. let them do what they want. now i don’t smoke, nor do i like the smell, but i don’t give a flying F if others like to smoke. it’s their life, not mine. and lastly, it’s pretty ■■■■■■■■ to try and convince a smoker to quit especially when they’ve shown no signs of wanting to quit.

If I go to a party and someone’s smoking I just move away. I mean it isn’t really my place to tell them what to do.

I, however, think that smoking is absolutely disgusting. As soon as I find out that someone is a smoker my respect for them automatically plummets. I can’t help it. It’s like I see them years later sort of… decaying. It also makes me think that they’re incredibly stupid. The smell of cigarette smoke is so foul that why someone would intentionally inhale it especially when they know the health risks is beyond me.

Just out of curiosity, do your colleges allow smoking inside of buildings? My U doesn’t allow smoking inside of any building and you have to be at least 25 feet away from the building. Since the people who smoke at my school are a small minority, it is pretty strictly enforced.

Even at like off campus houses and stuff, it’s semi-rare to find someone smoking (anything really, pot’s not big and alcohol is our drug of choice).

romani, most colleges disallow smoking indoors (in fact, I can’t think of one that does allow it). But as you yourself acknowledge, there is off campus housing, wherein parties are often held. That aside, just because rules exist doesn’t make them readily enforced. I was at a friend’s dorm the other day, and there were three people smoking in his room. It wasn’t a problem because they did it by the window.

Sorry, I misstated what I was trying to say. I was trying to ask if it was strictly enforced at other people’s schools (as in, allowed by the students). Haha, braindead moment for me.

u dont need an illegal connection to get cuban cigars. u can go to canada and bring them back and u r a-okay as far as legality goes. but dominican cigars are almost as good and sometimes better as long as the cigar is handrolled its passable

On my old University, smoking was stricly prohibited inside any building, balcony, parking lots ecc. Where I’m living now, unfortunately it is allowed to smoke on the balconies of the graduate housing. Pretty much disgusting.

They will not “enforce” a strictly prohibiton on graduate apartments’ balconies if everyone living in the same apartment agree. In my case, we don’t agree, therefore, no smoking.
