Pepperdine Class of 2022 Regular Decision

@Ovilla68 Definitely, here’s a link to the student success center which has all of the above! https://seaver.pepperdine.edu/academics/academic-support/student-success-center/ Also, for anyone who is reading this, Texas has the 2nd largest representation at Pepperdine besides California, so it won’t be difficult to meet people from your state (:

@tinytownmom I think you may have meant to ask me. My daughter is comparing Pepperdine and LMU. I think for film school, you should really look hard at LMU. They are known for that - I don’t know anything about it, but I hear they have a great film department. My daughter is Chemistry, so very different major. That being said, I think it really depends on what your son’s priorities are. My recollection of LMU is a bit sketchy because it was one of the first colleges we visited. It was a pretty campus and great location - very close to the airport. Pepperdine is more isolated, but you can’t beat the view! For us, I think Pepperdine’s science department is a bit better than LMU’s, but LMU does have a new gorgeous science building. I think Pepperdine’s study abroad program is better than LMU’s as well. I’d love to hear if anyone else has input, too, since we are trying to decide. I think my daughter definitely favors Pepperdine, but we are visiting just in case. I don’t think you can go wrong with either school. However, given that your son is interested in film, I think LMU has the advantage.

How religious is Pepperdine? I am not Christian and do not think I will be Christian so I want to know the non Christian
students’ life at Pepperdine.

@UCIfirstchoice I’m not Christian either and I am highly considering accepting Pepperdine’s offer for me to start in the fall. I’ve read a lot about it online and most people say that life on campus if you’re not Christian, is nothing to worry about.

@tinytownmom @shoegal17 @clowery I am in the same boat as all of you! I am considering whether to take classes in my area (Seattle) or Study Abroad before the Spring 2019 semester starts in January! I am waiting for a few more decisions to be in before I make up my mind.

Do you know if we can study abroad with Pepperdine for fall if we’re admitted in spring? I really love pepperdine but don’t want to wait till spring so if I can start then it would work

@shoegal17 I actually went on the website to look into that. It sounded like to go through Pepperdine there were limited openings for fall semester (DC or Shanghai) and that they required pre-requisite classes in order to go. However, I wouldn’t just assume based on the website. I think it would be worth calling admissions and having a discussion about this option if it were to come down to that.

I noticed that some departmental scholarships won’t pay during the years a student is abroad.

@vdulemba1 Yes, we are planning to attend the Dallas Pepperdine reception on April 8. Looking forward to meeting you there. We went last year as well. It was very nice - not too many people, lots of good information and free Pepperdine swag.

Anybody know how much 1 summer session is at pepperdine including tuition+room and board?

@Ovilla68 Awesome!! Looking forward to meeting you both there, tell her I said congratulations! And @wavybro123 the financial package I was given by Pepperdine had an “expected/estimated costs” tab in which a summer session was displayed to be approximately $22,528. Hope that helps!

@vdulemba1 HOLY CRUD!! $20,000 for a month of tuition? or is that all 3 months?

@wavybro123 I honestly have no idea as I was just accepted and am not sure how anything really works lol!! But I just copy and pasted the chart that was provided (-: hope it provides more clarity than I seem to be able to give you haha!

@vdulemba1 Your telling me Pepperdine gives you summer room and board for 1 dollar?

@euskara33 hahahahaha I know I saw that too and couldn’t help but be a little amused. That’s just what the chart they provided said…not sure of which dorm/living situation they offer that costs precisely $1.00, but sign me up lol!!

Hey guys! Congrats to everyone who was accepted! Just wanted to pop in and say that I’m a junior at Pepperdine and happy to answer any questions anyone might have, just message me

@coco55 Do you think it would be worth taking up Pepperdines offer for Spring 2019? And if so, what do I do during the fall of 2018 to not be behind?

@euskara33
I was admitted for Spring 2019 as well. I am planning to go to community college for a semester but not sure yet…

A little late, but maybe some people care:

Accepted for fall 2018
GPA: 3.72 u/w
SAT: 1470
6 AP Courses
OOS (Cleveland Private School)
Lots of ECs/Volunteering
Raised in Catholic Church
Essays on service to the public

My siblings go to Pepperdine so I know a little about it. Only Sophomores study abroad at Pepperdine and freshman begin applying to study abroad very early on in their first semester of college, I think two weeks after they begin.
If you are admitted for the Spring semester I don’t think you can study abroad sophomore year, but you might want to contact the school about it.
If you are talking about studying abroad in the Fall of 2018 I think you would have to do it with an outside program since like I said before only Sophomores study abroad at Pepperdine.

*Actually other grade levels can take classes and study abroad over the Summer, but Sophomores are the only ones that can study abroad during the academic school year.
