We are in Texas, too. Pepperdine has always been DD’s first choice but it just doesn’t look good for California right now. The poor school’s hands are completely tied. Here’s to hoping the world situation improves ASAP so they can reopen!
Awesome!!! Congrats!
I have a son at UT. He is an RA. It is scary everywhere. Hoping this vaccine really starts getting distributed and working and we can all see a return to “normal.”
My DD was accepted today!

Congrats to all who received offers today.
DD accepted

mostly AP’s, many leadership positions, varsity debate x 4 years, competitive private college prep high school, numerous EC’s and community service award winner. Go Waves! Awaiting merit info. Congrats to all!
Deferred EA for Biology, but I’d honestly take it as a win. GPA when applied: 3.28 UW GPA, 3.37 W GPA, 2.5 GPA freshmen year, 3.7 GPA sophomore year, 4.1 GPA junior year, and I achieved a 4.43 GPA first semester Senior year which I think would look really good when I send these. My GPA is now a 3.32 UW GPA, 3.45 W GPA.
I even got a D in Algebra II as well that’s on my transcript, and I have no test scores to report, but I have a Kaiser Permanente Summer Internship, UIUC Engineering high school program, Discover Swarthmore Fly-in program, UCLA EAOP advanced writing bootcamp, Science Olympiad Captain, Founder of my own Online business, Working full-time to dismantle financial barriers imposed by the pandemic, and a plethora of other community service events and leadership positions.
I also interviewed!

Hey guys, just wanted to add some insight to those accepted and / or considering attending here. Firstly congrats to everyone who got in, I’m so proud of each and every one of you, and keep your head high to those who got deferred or rejected, I got deferred so I know how it feels. Pepperdine isn’t your typical college, not even in the sense that it’s a religious school: it’s detached from any nearby city other than Malibu itself. There isn’t anything eventful at Malibu itself, a 20 minute walk down the hill that Pepperdine is located in has a nice outdoor shopping center but the shopping center doesn’t have a lot of stores. You’re near the shoreline of Malibu as well which is super nice, not too many people go there and it’s a relatively safe and clean beach to relax or soak yourself in. Other than what I mentioned, you’re detached from everything else. The only way to get to any suburban / urban city, the closest one being Santa Monica, which acts as a passageway to go to other cities and landmarks in the LA area is through the Metro bus 534 if you’re going on bus. I know not everyone is comfortable on taking public transportation, and even then Downtown Los Angeles is easily 2 hours on the bus, so the only feasable way to get outside of Malibu is through a car. Many people presume the notion that Pepperdine is a smaller-sized UC Santa Barbara because it’s close to the beach; that is a big big misconception. Pepperdine is no party school, not because of the students but mainly because of the inherint isolated town, where students can’t really get apartments to party in or many frat houses. Unlike UCSB having Isle Vista, Pepperdine has no College town. Mailbu isn’t a college town, it’s a very expensive area with little to cater to college students. As a low-income student, I will also note that I have felt out of place whenever I go to Mailbu, but that’s just me. With these facts in mind, I’m not trying to discredit Pepperdine in the slightest. The campus is simply beautiful, student life feels vivid and thriving, I welcome the relgious emphasis, and academics are top-notch. I know that if you applied to Pepperdine you were probably privy of these facts already, but as a SoCal native who has visited Pepperdine 4 times, you can’t really compherend that feeling of being detached and isolated until you’re there, let alone for 4 years. From my viewpoint, the location that Pepperdine is in doesn’t cater to what I’m really looking for in a college. The only reason Pepperdine intrigues me is because I’m into swimming / surfing, and Pepperdine being close to the beach would help me hone these skills, maybe even through a club that they offer. I’m only commenting these because of the common UCSB and Pepperdine misconception circulating, but I know anyone that will attend Pepperdine will thrive academically, religiously, and personally regardless. Good luck everyone with the rest of college decisions!
Anyone hear on scholarships? Heard some people may have gotten info.
My daughter received $36k/year. They didn’t email the scholarship - she created her WaveNet account and clicked on the “Financial Aid” link within the account.
They’re now estimating the annual cost for Pepp to be $80,484!!! So that still only brings it down to $45k/year. Yikes.
Do you mind sharing her stats? Unweighted GPA and test scores. Thanks. And wow. The cost is very high.
Still waiting to hear as well. Do the Pepperdine grants come out at the same time? That is from filling out the FAFSA?
DD just heard that she got the $30,000 scholarship. We didn’t hear about any other grants, or anything, yet.
At each of the other schools she’s applied to, she’s received the top merit $, so we were hoping for the additional $6,000 (and even that was going to be a stretch financially). I’m not sure we can financially make this work and it’s her #1 choice.
Did she take ACT/SAT?
received my scholarship package! blanche seaver international for 35k per year
DD did not take the SAT because were in CA and her tests kept getting cancelled.
DD just checked under “financial aid” and in addition to her $30,000 Regents Scholarship, she DID ACTUALLY receive a nice Pepperdine Grant!!!
So Pepperdine is back in the running!!!
You won’t get an email about grants. Grants are listed in Wavenet under financial aid.
Was that a scholarship lisacarpediem or a grant?
Did some of you get emails re. scholarships?
Did all the EA merit scholarships go out on Friday? D has great stats 4.0 UW Valedictorian tons of AP, EC etc, no scholarships came through on Wavenet, only a Pepperdine grant.
Same situation here, CL2021KEN. If I remember correctly from reading about other years, they do all the 30 and 36k scholarships at once.
They likely have a large number of students who have high stats and all-around great applications (even moreso this year), but only award that merit to approximately 10% of those admitted. I imagine they try their best to guess which of those may actually accept the offer, too, when deciding.
Also curious to hear which majors might receive more merit.
