I've been accepted to Pepperdine for quite some time now and I'm planning to attend this fall. :) I hope I'm making the right choice...
So, can anyone tell me how the undergraduate (freshmen) dorms look like? What can I find inside the rooms? Also, are there laundry rooms in the dorm buildings?

The dorms are fairly nice…large rooms for 2 people. t=They come with a bed, desk, dresser, etc…standard stuff really. Freshman live in suites with 4 rooms, a common room, and a bathroom with 2 showers and 2 toilets in each suite. There are 6 suites in a building and if you look at a map of Pepperdine the row of freshman dorms splits right through the middle of the campus. There is a washer and 2 dryers in each dorm, with each use of the washer costing .75 cents and each of the dryer .50 cents.

pepperdine dorms were rated in the top “dorms that look like palaces” in princeton review if that helps any :)

if you’ve ever watched zoey 101 they used pepperdine to film the show but im not sure if its exactly the same

Dorms aren’t amazing, but they work.

Pepperdine seems to consistently rank high when it comes to their dorms, but the people who actually attend Pepperdine aren’t always thrilled.

Why is that?

What exactly do you guys want out of a dorm?

I know on paper, Pepperdine’s dorms sound great.

But this may be due to the fact that I’m currently attending a boarding Academy where the boys dorm smells like a giant urinal and the rooms are equivalent in size to that of a linen closet.

The rooms are significantly bigger than any other dorms that I toured. Honestly, dorming at any college isn’t a glamorous experience, but Pepperdine’s is considerably better.

Since I won’t see the campus until after I send in my housing information, which dorm should I choose? I’m an incoming freshman male, and I can’t decide which one to choose? Do any of the dorms have stereotypes like at other colleges?

You don’t get to choose. All freshmen are placed in standard freshman halls. They are all exactly the same and lined up in a row so all the freshmen are near each other. About 50 people live in each hall, which is broken up into suites of 4 rooms/8 people each.

Well then, that makes things so much easier! I paid my deposit and filled out my enrollment form today. I am so excited to officially be part of the Pepperdine community.

thanks again, gwu_girl

dylman, a very warm congratulations!

Thanks JohnAdams, I can’t wait to be on the campus!

No problem, dylman. Let me know if you have any more questions.

How is Krown Beta Hall? Is it a freshman dorm-the same as the others?

kmatt5 - Yes, it is a standard freshman hall, but it does house transfers and sophomores who may choose to live there. It is located at “Greek Row” (misleading name - it’s not Greek housing), which is a bit farther from main campus than the rest of the freshmen dorms.
