Pepperdine Prepayment USC Decisions ....

I am having a small dilemma here .... I just got accepted to Pepperdine which is great and all but their prepayment tuition is 750$, NON-REFUNDABLE, and due May 1st. What is the problem about that you say ? Pepperdine is my safety school just in case I get rejected from ALL the schools I want to go to. Emory I get my results in April 26th and I'm guessing Boston College is around the similar time I guess, BUT here is the problem ... My first choice school is USC and their decisions come out around June 1st .... SOOOOO my question is how can I secure my spot in Pepperdine, because I want to stay in Cali, while I wait for USC .... frkn USC having such a late decision time .... Please I want people with experience to answer, advice is awesome but I need facts so I can take steps ... THANK YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY :]

USC decisions will be out next week (although I had an early write admission).

I think OP is a transfer student.

Sent from my SGH-T589 using CC

ya lol I’m a transfer student …

So I’m guessing no one knows what I can do ?

Transfer20I3 – This is a fairly common problem for transfers, as there’s no official notification or reply dates, as there are with Freshman. So this is something that the schools have all seen before. Here’s what you can do proactively.

Call Pepperdine, ask for the transfer counselor and let them know that as excited you are about being accepted to their school, you are still waiting to hear from another school who’s potential notification date is not until June 1. Then ask them to please extend your response deadline.

Most likely, they will at least give you another two weeks, if not the full month.

Then, get on the phone with a USC transfer counselor and let them know that you are very excited about potentially being accepted to their school, but there is another school that you’ve been accepted to that has a reply deadline of May 1. Then ask them to please move up their notification to you.

Most likely they will put a rush on your result.

If the two dates don’t meet in the middle and there will be a lag rather than overlap – phone the respective schools again and try to work out the difference.

Good luck

You could pay the money knowing you might lose it. You’re basically paying for the peace of mind of knowing that you have a secure plan B.

I know…I wouldn’t want to do it but it’s an option that guarantees you will get at least something that you want.

@hop thanks that’s what I heard hopefully it will work

@Madaboutx yea … I was thinking that but **** that’s almost a thousand dollars for a school that I probably won’t even go too … but I still want to stay in Cali for my career … but Emory and Boston College WAY outrank Pepperdine in Business … I just wished USC had an early decisions app just like Emory -_-" sigh … I guess I’ll start making calls tomorrow …

It always helps to look and to post on the correct forum.

Hmmm thank you … so I guess it’s take it or leave it if all else fails huh … :[

I actually contacted USC and the transfer counselor said they can’t and won’t rush decision dates for anybody since they know they are the last ones to mail out decisions but that’s just the way it is since they do so because of the heavy number of applications and that’s when they’re done with them. Even if you call them on june 1st, she said they can’t inform people of decisions through phone or anything and bear in mind that decisions may arrive later than june 1st since they are mailed. In other words, you might have to waste those $750 just in case.

@lalaland3 Sigh … AHHH I have a feeling Pepperdine won’t extend their Tuition Prepayment either … why the heck did I even apply to Pepperdine then … BTW … you can check your status online at USC Connect … and they email you if you got accepted or SGR’s and what not. I found out I got accepted to Pepperdine just by logging on their site on March 15 when they said decisions will be out on April 1st, yet I still haven’t recieved an email or package yet. Soooo hopefully I get accepted early for USC as well?

Well that’s the hope but if you read under application status they say that all decisions will be delivered by mail. Meaning they don’t want you to find out through any other way first, guessing because they want to make it special or who knows. LMU does the same thing so not surprise USC does.

Well if you read the official usc transfer thread 2012 many of the students found out through USC connect … but I live 30 min away from USC so hopefully I get mailed ASAP … =[
