Nope, didn’t expect to but it would’ve been nice. =/

Me neither.

I got in!!!

Accepted!!!

Congrats! I got accepted too! So excited!!! I wonder when we will hear about financial aid?

Congratulations!!! I don’t know when we’ll hear but I think if we call they’ll give us the info :)

That’s true. I guess we’ll be getting another email from them soon with all the info maybe too… I still can’t believe I got in! Pepperdine is my dream school and now I’ll be counting down the days until Spring semester! Haha.

Can the people who got accepted please share your stats and grades/curriculars/etc?

3.2 GPA, 1890 SAT score.
Lots of work experience and internships, recommendation letters from a marketing prof. and my boss, tons of volunteer work with church and with different animal shelters.
My essays were very focused on their mission statement, so I think those and my ECs really helped me out.
Are you thinking about applying again for the fall?

Yeah but I really dont know how I didnt get in. I am a veteran, have a 3.8 GPA with honors courses. Obviously military experience and experience out/before that. I am involved in a church of christ, have hundreds of voluntary hours. And my essays were based exactly on the mission statement. I had a really outstanding application I really dont know how I didnt get in. I even had a recommendation from a state senator. I really wanted to go to Pepperdine ever since I was a kid, but this really just shocks me. But I guess yeah, il apply for the fall again.

Wow, I would expect you to get accepted too…
Before I applied I made a lot of trips out to the school and talked with counselors and admission officers to help me with the process. They gave me a lot of good advice.
Also, Pepperdine has these tours a few times a week that are lead by admission officers. You can speak with them after the tour is over and ask questions one on one. If you live within driving distance, maybe you should make a trip out there and speak with some of the admissions people to try and figure out what you can do to increase your chances and talk with them about why you didn’t get accepted for spring.

I agree with ckimm123. I am surprised you didn’t get accepted because your credentials sound very competitive. I would definitely follow that advice because I did the same exact thing. I made a trip to the school and kept in close contact with the admissions officers through the process which I think, besides the valuable advice they give you, really helps because it keeps your name in their mind and adds a unique dynamic that you can’t otherwise get through the paper application. One of the admissions staff told me they keep track of all correspondence and consider it when they make their decision. Anyway I definitely would apply and think if you do that (and if you live too far away to make a trip at least keep in close contact with the admissions office in any way you can), you will have a strong chance for Fall.

On another note… Has anyone received any additional correspondence from Pepperdine yet? It said in the email that we should receive our wavenet account login info and stuff within 24 hours but I haven’t heard back from them yet… I guess it’s still soon, but I’ll probably be calling the office if I don’t hear anything within the next few days. I’ll definitely be enrolling either way but I wanna know what kind of financial aid I’ll be getting before I send in any kind of deposit.

Hey dolchedog, I just sent you a PM with some info!

LoveEducation, I got my wavenet account on Saturday and just signed up for housing today. You should call the office as soon as you can!

Hmmm that’s odd. Well anyway I called them and got it straightened out. I also talked to someone in financial aid and they said decisions about financial assistance haven’t actually been made yet for Spring admits and should be made by the end of the week at which time we should all be getting an additional email. I’ll be signing up for housing later this week too! I’m so excited and feel better now that I’ve got that all straightened out!!

Thanks so much for the support guys! I was shocked too! (not that i was overconfident or anything because pepperdine is a really good school so I can understand their reasoning too), Its just so hard getting that rejection from a school you absolutely want to go to, and a school that you feel like you have an absolute genuine chance to attend as well. Thanks for the support again though guys, it really shows that you guys are genuine pepperdine students because of how thoughtful and kind you are. I really hope we can all meet up sometime when I do get in!

does anyone know when we’re notified about merit scholarships? I don’t qualify for financial aid so I was just wondering…

Flower1294 it looks like they’ve already made the financial award decisions but I would contact financial aid to find out about your award directly…

Dolchedog: after finding out about my financial aid today, the admissions office actually told me it would be in my best interest to re-apply for Fall term considering financial aid is a pretty big factor for me, as they said a lot of the big awards are given out in Fall and therefore not as many are left for Spring… womp. It’s really devastating because Pepperdine is my dream school too, but I’m not giving up or letting this stop me, and hope I hear good news this Fall!! So it looks like we’ll both be in the same boat applying again for Fall. I’m sure you will be admitted for Fall!! I know they do admit most transfers as Fall term transfers (but that could just be because not as many apply for Spring as for Fall so who knows it all is a guessing game I feel like)… so here’s to hoping we both get accepted for Fall! It would be cool if we all met up sort of like a college confidential reunion haha.

I know you’ll both get in in the fall!! You need to keep me updated and we should all definitely meet up :)

Loveeducation: as sad as I am for you not getting a good aid package, I am also, in a way happy that now we have an opportunity to get a second chance and get a bigger aid package for the both of us! and yes to both ckimm123 and loveeducation, we should defenitlely meet up at pepperdine! we should exchange facebooks or something and keep eachother posted throughout this process, and maybe work on our apps together for the fall ahaha because they are coming up soon too! Thanks again for the support guys, and please do keep me posted between you guys!!

Dolchedog: That’s true, and as bummed out as I am about it, I am trying to keep a positive mindset and focus on the positives of applying/hopefully getting accepted for Fall instead of not being able to be there in the Spring like I was hoping for. When I spoke to admissions, they said we won’t have to pay another application fee or reapply through the common app. They are working on some kind of reapplication form that we will fill out, and then just send out updated transcripts and the rest of the stuff we submitted like recommendations (maybe essays too? idk), will just stay on our file for Fall consideration given all the issues going on with the common app. Sounds like a lot easier process then the first initial application. I really hope we both get in!!! I’m trying not to obsess over it though because I did that the first time around and now we have another 2 months till the deadline, and 5 months till we hear again! Haha. But yes that’s a good idea and it would be awesome to meet up!
