Pepperdine Transfer?

Anyone on here transfer to Pepperdine? If so, stats or EC's or anything that you feel helped alot? Thanks in advance.

Hi, my D had less than 30 units in January so they consider her a new freshman and had to apply as one even though she will have 33 units by the end of spring term. So first figure out how many units you have.
30+ completed by January is a transfer.

Transfers still apply before the 1/15 deadline unlike most other schools, who wait until spring.

My D h.s. gpa 3.4
college gpa 3.5+
sat 1080 (not a test taker!)
excellent recommendation
lots of ec in theater (leading roles 3 years)
volleyball 2 years
lots of commmunity service
Very involved church youth leadership

She was waitlisted and we are still waiting, should hear in May
Plans on applying in Spring if not offered a spot from the WL

If you have 30+ units they do not even look at SAT scores

They do not have a lot of transfer applications according to their common data sheet, take about 25% of transfer apps.

Hope this helps, check out their website, it is pretty informative, call the Pepperdine admissions counselor for your area. Ours has been excellent in answering my daughter's questions through email.

Thanks, that helped a lot. I'll have 34 credits when I transfer so I guess my SAT is pointless then. But do you think they'd still take into account my HS record?

Yes, they look at High school trancrpts and college credits
Recommendations are important too
Religious affiliation doesn't hurt especially if you are involved

Remember yout 34 credits must be completed before application in January!

Yeah they'll be done in May. Thanks!

Will u apply for spring? fall? 2007? If my D doesn't get selected from the waitlist, she will be applying as a transfer for spring. Where r u transfering from? stats?

I'll be applying for Fall most likely. I currently have 16 credits completed from a local community college (NY). I have a GPA of 3.76 in those credits, and I'm also in the process of completing 18 credits and will be done this May. I have a 1280 SAT but I guess that really does'nt matter now. Hopefully my EC's will be the deciding factor for me. I'm my church's youth pastor, music director, church drummer, I teach at a summer Vacation Bible School for inner city kids....and my church recommendation should be excellent. Hopefully thats enough to get me in lol

Excellent! Good luck, and I'll let you know how my D does and what worked for her. Recommendations are important; from school and your church. make sure whoever writes them not only knows you, but can write well!

Hey this is JC* daughter i applied as a freshman with transferable units and when investigating pepperdine it seemed that unlike other schools transfers had to apply the same time as regular applicants....meaning if you wanted to go there in fall 2006 you had to apply before january 15 2006. If you were thinking of applying for fall 2006 you may be too late so you might want to call them to double check that...if you are late you can apply in november for spring and you will find out by october...so you might want to look at their web sit under transfer student and call them for the right facts i may be wrong...well good luck with everything! hope all works out

oops! apply in October notified in November!

Thanks JC...I'll make sure to check

From what I gathered, the deadline is in October for fall transfer...unless I read it wrong. But I'm pretty sure it said October

I need some advice on transfering into Pepperdine as well. I am currently a high school senior (c/o 06) and did not get accepted for the fall. Pepperdine has been my dream school since I was a freshman and is the only school I really want to go to. I got into UCSB, Cal Poly Pomona, SDSU, and Marymount College (a 2 year private college in P.V.) and was wondering which would be the best route to get to Pepperdine. I know I can attend one of the schools I listed and transfer after 1 or 2 years but which one if any would be the easiest to transfer from? I want to transfer as soon as possible.. hopefully after 1 year. I am also considering attending a JC for a year and then transfering. I don't really know what I should do.. and the May 1st confirmation is slowly approaching.. any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks!

JTS,

I would suggest the route of going to your second choice school just in case you do not get the transfer. What a shame to go to JC and then start trying again to get into UCSB or SDSU if you did not get accepted into Pepperdine at that point. Hopefully you will, but be prepared just in case.

Just my humble opinion of course.

I agree with PepperDad take your second choice, but really focus on your grades for transfer. There are however 2 things to keep in mind with the JC, saving $$$ and they have good transfer agreements. Also keep in mind if you transfer in one year you still apply as a freshman and all your current stats are used. So evaluate where you were weak so you can supplement next year. Even consider talking to the admission counselor this year to find out why you were rejected. You can submit additional grades, ec, etc. when you apply next time, but they won't ask for them.

Thanks Pepdad and JC,
I was told Pepperdine did away with all of their transfer agreements because they were outdated and haven't made new ones yet... any truth in this? So Pepperdine doesn't really care which college I transfer from? I just have to get good grades at that school? So wouldn't I have the best chance if I go to an easy school where the grading wouldn't be so competitive?

hey man..ill be at MMC in the fall of 06...im gonna be living at PV North.

chant, me too! I put down PV North as my first choice. How did you find out where you are going to be living already?

oh...well, i was told by my councelor that if i sent in the papers very quickly (which i did), i was almost guarenteed a spot at PV north....message me on AIM: My Name Is Skott - or email me: ScottBerens@gmail.com and we can talk!

Later
