Pepperdine vs UIUC , Which do you prefer?

Hi, Everybody! I am new here.
I am a Chinese girl who is going to US this fall.

Now I am struggling between UIUC and pepperdine university.Although UIUC is higer ranked,
Pepperdine U offers me a $2,200 scholarship,and has a more temperate environment.

Can anyone tell me something about pepperdine university?

How is the educational quality there compared to UIUC?

Can the graduates from Pepperdine get a favorable job?Are they competitive?

Honestly,I am an ambitious girl, I want to choose a university that can build best pavement to my further education and future career.
Is there any advice?
Students from which school are more likely to transfere to top schools like Ivy league or so?

Thank you for reading through this long questionaire, haha.Hope that will not bother you
It would be nicer of you if you can just tell me what you think.
Thanks again!!
again & again!!!

What are you going to be studying?

Pepperdine, is a very conservative Christian university affiliated with the Church of Christ, which is a conservative denomination. It is in Malibu, which is gorgeous, but expensive to live.

UIUC, is the flagship public in Illinois, with the largest frat/sorority population in the country, but like most large institutions, there are many niches. It does have a more diverse range of students from all over the world. You can also live pretty cheaply, so even with the scholarship, UIUC will be much cheaper in the long run in terms of cost of living. It is also only 2 hours from Chicago.

Personally, this would be a no brainer for me-UIUC. BUT if fit in better at Pepperdine, then perhaps it is for you.

Are you religious? Pepperdine is a Catholic school. It’s an absolutely GORGEOUS campus though (I’m serious, it’s like a resort or something…)

UIUC has an ugly campus, I’ve heard.

Pepperdine has requirements for attending religious events such as bible studies, religious speakers, etc. They will take attendance at such events and you can’t leave during it.

Pepperdine is NOT Catholic…

It is gorgeous there.

For International students, UIUC might be better because there are a lot of International as well as diverse ethnic students who go there. However, Malibu >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Urbana-Champaign by miles.

The campus at UIUC is very pretty and large.

If it’s for the sciences/engineering, UIUC should be your choice.

Urbana-Champaign is a college town…Malibu, not so much.

i agree on that UCB, but Urbana-Champaign is also basically in the middle of nowhere with miles of cornfields separating you from the closets city, Chicago.

Still, as a poor college student, there is more catering to me in Urbana-Champaign.

In Malibu, you’ll need a car, or a friend with a car, to get around…as you drive by the gated, secluded hideaways of eccentric Hollywood-types. Malibu is beautiful when clear, but during a lot of the academic year it will be quite foggy…

IMO, this is no contest. UIUC wins hands down, despite its “poorer” location.
