Would someone (preferrably a current or former student) please tell me the pros and cons of Pepperdine University? I am considering going there, but I do not know much about the school.

Hi! I am a current Pepperdine student. What would you like to know about the school, more specifically? Social life? Classes? Spiritual life??

I don't know about TJW, but here are a few things I'd like to know

1) I know Pepperdine and most private schools have a rep. for being preppy, but how bad is it? If I go to class in sweats and a sweatshirt, will I get funny looks?

2) How nice or catty are the girls? how picky are the guys? are ANY looking for a relationship?

3) Will i fit in because I don't like to drink or party on the weekends? I'm more of a "go see a movie and hang out" kinda girl. I'm up to a good time, but my concern is academics.

4) Hows the school spirit?

5) How acidemically dedicated are the majority of the students? Do you know anything about the honor program?

lol so much for a few things, but if you're up to it i'd love the answers :D

Hopefully these answers will help you out a little bit-

1) Pepperdine isn't as preppy as one would think. However, if you go to the caf or class in sweats, you might feel underdressed at times. I honestly don't think that Pepperdine is all about having money, but most of the time, most people are dressed. It doesn't matter if your outfit is from target or is all designer stuff, but most people do not wear sweats all day. For example, I had an 8am class last semester. I would be one of the only kids in sweats, almost everyone else was dressed and showered. No one will ever give you funny looks for how casual you dress, you just need to be confident in your clothes.. thats all.

2) As for the student body, you will find everything here. Honestly, most people are very nice. Some girls are quite caddy and stuck up, but you will find that at any school. There is an overwhelming number of really really nice kids here and I personally think there are more nice kids than jerks. As for the guys... there are def. some who are looking for relationships. There are a lot of people doing long distance (including myself) and there are a lot of people at pepp who are in really serious relationships. But honestly, you can find what you want here. There are plently of people who are into the whole "random hookup scene" and plently of people who are really interested in finding a relationship. A LOT of the guys are great, really nice and fun and have great friendships with girls.

3) You will fit in if you don't like to drink or party. I don't drink or party and I have a lot of fun at school. Weekends can be filled with going to movies, dinner, beach, santa monica, shopping on melrose, etc. It can get expensive, but there is LOTS to do if you don't drink. I don't know how religious you are, but there are so many great christians that don't drink and have a blast on the weekend, doing tons of fun stuff other than partying. Campus is pretty quiet on the weekend, so if you want to stay in and do homework, you certainly can.

4) School spirit is good! Lots of kids attend all the sporting events and class events. Tons of kids wear pepperdine clothing and really love pepperdine. There are some kids who constantly complain about pepperdine and say "this school is so strict" blah blah blah but overall, school spirit is high.

5) Pepperdine kids work hard. Classes are challenging- but not impossible. Most people spend a good chunk of time in the library and are dedicated to their studies.

Hope that helps! If you have any more questions, let me know. I would highly recommend coming here, its a wonderful place to go to school. I love the small and close knit community, you get to know everyone on campus. It's a wonderful school!!

Vicus, Pepperdine has a very good business program. It is the largest program at the school. The school has a lot of foreign students, and there is a special office to help foreign students apply to the school. The cost for foreign students is the same as for other students (it is expensive unless you get financial aid). You should look at the school's website for more specific information.
