I know Providence is SAT optional and i'm curious to know what % actually do not submit their scores. I know they say it won't be held against them but always wonder about that.

Providence College has been test optional through four complete admission cycles. Among all applicants in the last four years:
Class of 2011 - 20.4% did not submit
Class of 2012 - 35.1% did not submit
Class of 2013 - 33.2% did not submit
Class of 2014 - 34.6% did not submit

The acceptance rate for submitters has averaged somewhat higher than non-submitters. However, the increase in acceptance rate is a function of the fact that “on the average” submitters have taken a slightly more challenging curriculum and have a slightly higher recalculated GPA on PC’s scale.

From the standpoint of the academic component of the review for admission, being a non-submitter is not a disadvantage when the strength of curriculum and GPA fit the expected profile.

S did not submit scores and was accepted EA.

Thanks very much for that info. I recently took the SAT for the first time and got my scores yesterday. I’m devastated. I was never a great test taker so had been working really hard in preparing for this, as well as working with a private tutor.

I’ve always struggled with math so i really was counting on my reading/writing. I’ve taken several practice tests and have been scroing anywhere between 680-700 and got a 750 on one (reading/writing). math was always a struggle just to break 500.

Well, i don’t know how but I totally bombed the reading writing. Got a 10 on the essay (thought i’d do better) yet the writing score was MUCH lower than my practice scores. I don’t know what happened. The math score was of course, lousy.

I know I can take it again but seeing as i wasn’t even that nervous (for me anyway), i’ll be a wreck the next time knowing there is more pressure to have to do much better.

I’ll graduate with 6 AP classes (in the 90’s in all of t hem), 2 languages, and pretty good EC’s. my current GPA is an UW 90.5

Will you take the AP tests, the scores for them will help make up for not having the scores on the SAT.
Take the ACT also if you can. One of my daughter’s didn’t do well at all her first time, very anxious but each time did better.
You have a strong course load, don’t become an SAT number, you are more than that.

^ thanks for the kind words. Yes, I will take all the AP tests. Received a 4 on the first one I took last year.
